I have a question I own the Z10 for about 2 months. I don’t really make the cold brew. Now if I hit the snow flake (specialty brew) and the regular coffee icon that’s normally a hot beverage has a fine grind setting. Now when I hit this snowflake and just hit the icon to brew she states in the video (@4:56) that it does the coarser grind automatically? I was confused on this. Do I need to change my original coffee setting? Thanks in advance
@Wholelattelovepage

Hi charles, the Z10's Product Recognizing Grinder automatically adjusts grind size based on the beverage type selected. So, if you choose a cold brew option the grind will be adjusted coarser.

Thank you. I was confused on this. Nothing in the manual either states this. Such as what coarser size. The coarsest grind? Can this be adjusted? Or only adjusted if you ‘program’ the cold brew so it’s on screen? Thank you. You all are great at WLL

Love all your vids, Marc! I returned a Gaggia Classic Pro and just got my Jura Z10 from WLL the other day, but I’ve yet to make an espresso on it that actually tastes good. First, the shot that is pulled is not like a regular espresso machine. It’s more Nescafé than espresso. I’ve tried beans through the bean hopper (Danesi and a few others) and also used the alternate dose chute, tried adjusting strength and volume, but am not impressed at this point. Even though I didn’t like the inconsistency of the Classic Pro, I almost think the “not so good shots” from that machine were better. Also, it feels like overkill for simply making coffee and espresso. I really want to like the Z10. Any tips for dialing in espresso shots on the Z10?

Hi! Since the new grinder of this machine who is able to grind finer or coarser, would you say that an espresso on this machine is identical or very very close to an espresso with à Semi-auto with a external flat burr grinder ? Thanks!

Hi p, Thanks for the question. Semi-auto machines are generally capable of producing a higher quality espresso. But, it takes knowledge and skill on the part of the user to achieve consistently. The Z10 comes close to quality of semi-auto and does it consistently with no user skill required. Marc

Nice machine! But as a Swiss speaking growing up close to the Jura headquarters the pronunciation triggers me a little bit! xP and since you guys discussed the Z I just have to mention it. Hahaha, because you are quiet close: everything is correct but the “J” is pronounced like the “y” in Yes for example. The name comes from the mountain range called Jura. (You can pronounce the mountain range also french but since the HQ of “Jura Elektroapparate AG” is in the Swiss German Part it’s pronounced german.)

Hi RR, Yes I know! I get reminded every time I do a Jura a video. Interestingly my heritage is 50% Swiss 50% German. Anyway, here in the US the folks at Jura's headquarters pronounce the J as j is pronounced in English and not with the "y" sound. I've asked them about it and they are well aware they're pronouncing it wrong in the ears of native Swiss. Marc

Just to be clear, it doesn't seem like there's any cooling mechanism inside the machine, the water just isn't heated so if you don't add ice, you're just getting room temperature water. Please correct me if I'm wrong. Also, the making two drinks at once feature doesn't grind double the amount of beans, it just uses double the amount of water with one grind so the drinks will be watered down. I used to recommend that to clients when a line developed but I stopped after confirming that with Jura.
@Wholelattelovepage
2 жыл бұрын
Hi Walter, Thanks for the comment. You are correct, no cooling mechanism in the machine. While cold brew gives one the idea it's brewed cold what it kinda means is it's brewed with something other than hot water. There are a bunch of ways to make cold brew like water from melting ice dripping over grounds for hours, mixing room temp water with coarse ground coffee in a jar and letting it sit for 12-24 hours in a fridge, etc. What the Z10 does is speed up the cold brew process and the result is excellent. You are correct, double drinks do not use 2 grind cycles like you get with some other manufacturers. A couple things... Jura does have one of the larger max coffee doses at 16 grams. That's 2g more than traditional Italian double. Marc
@Wholelattelovepage
2 жыл бұрын
Hi Walter, I need to clarify my previous response. I work with many Jura machines and confused models. On the Z10 when you prepare a double coffee or espresso, the machine does grind twice. Older models used to only grind once and double the volume of water but today, the machine will actually grind twice for a true double, either in one cup or two. I also want to mention that while there is no “cooling mechanism”, cold brew is not meant to be freezing cold, which is why we recommend using cold water in the water tank, so the coffee will brew with that temperature and of course, the customer can use as much ice as they prefer.

How do the burrs get flushed of grinds from the previous grind if you can change grind size on each drink?
@Wholelattelovepage
2 жыл бұрын
Hi Tom, I'll need to confirm with Jura but I believe it's a straight drop out of the grinder into the brewing chamber which significantly reduces grind retention between grind cycles. There are always some partially ground beans left after a brewing cycle in the burrs. Most of what is left behind is larger in particle size than even the coarsest possible grind size. My guess is the grinder quickly adjusts if needed when the burrs begin to spin for the next grind cycle. Marc

I am about to take the plunge and purchase the Jura Z10. I am totally new to super-auto's, I have been using a pod for years and want to both do away with the collosal waste, and get fresh coffee at the push of a button. May I ask what are the best type of beans to use in Jura machines...medium roast? Dark roast? Any help would be fantastic 👌 Rob from the UK
@Wholelattelovepage
2 жыл бұрын
Hi SSR, Thanks for the question. Smart move on your part - less waste, better coffee and lower per cup cost. Win, win, win! Best type of bean is up to personal taste. Personally I'm not a fan of dark roasts (okay if you like them) you get more taste of the roast and less flavor of the bean. Do avoid whole beans with visible surface oils. A few visible oils are okay but if more than say 30% of bean is covered in oils do not use in an automatic machine as they can clog the grinder. Also know that in many cases poor quality beans are roasted extra dark to cover up poor bean quality. I'd start with medium roast and then experiment with other roast levels and discover what suits your taste! Marc

Hi Michael, The cold brew options are excellent on the Z10 - you might have a line at the machine for those as they take longer to prepare. If you have a lot of staff drinking larger cups of standard coffee you will be filling the 80oz capacity reservoir frequently. The X8 has about double the capacity for water, beans and spent coffee and can do 2 milk drinks simultaneously. Great for bonding with coworkers and visitors. Hope that helps! Marc

Every morning, I make myself a coffee to go, and it kind of irks me that I can't put my stainless steel travel mug under my Z6. You end up having to use a second container to make your drink and then pour it into your travel mug.
