Now if we take a snarling wolf and a snarling lion the differences are far more minor. But DINOSAURS!? The sounds of both the Tyrannosaurus and Spinosaurus are ear splitting and completely alien, without context, both dinosaurs sound like huge terrifying beasts, and without knowledge of the Spinosaurus, it’s impossible to tell which of the two *sound* bigger, it’s significantly lacking in sense. This is simple logic, dude.

another thing that was missed by the reviewer. at the end, Alan makes some sounds through the raptor larynx. the raptors are confused. then they leave. they leave because they heard the battalion of soldiers arriving on the beach. they think alan called his friends to help. it’s not that they understood what alan was saying. but they understood alan was calling for help, and getting help. that part was clever. and understated.

I think the scene is seriously overhated. At the start of the film Ellie and Alan talk to each other about how they both have nightmares about what happened on the island. So that dream was another of those nightmares, and the raptor saying 'Alan' is Billy saying 'Alan' spilling into the dream, a psychological phenomenon that does happen in real life.

The funny thing about the "Alan" raptor scene was that it was an "evolved" JP3 raptor which Alan and the audience had never seen before. whether that is intend as a flash-forward or not, it left me thinking about its unique features like the blue-ish hide, proto-feathers, and red eyes with circular pupils.

(especially speculative art of raptors) the look of completely "naked" raptors doesn't sit well with me anymore. the JP3 raptors are pretty cool, but it would be an interesting concept to have feathered raptors which are as elegant as they are deadly. I think a mix between scales and proto-feathers makes raptors look both reptilian and bird-like, something that really appears out-of-this-world mysterious. There's some pretty good art depictions out there!

Okay, Chris. I love ya. I love your reviews. But I'm only gonna say this ONE time. The toys Alan is demonstrating with at the beginning are NOT a T-rex and Spinosaurus. They are a Velociraptor (left) and Allosaurus (right). I'm tired of seeing this everywhere I go. The film makers weren't clever enough to think to buy a T-rex or Spinosaurus toy, though at the time of filming, the odds of finding an "accurate" Spinosaurus toy were very slim. I hope this has been helpful, and I'm sorry if I sound like a dick.

Wanna hear something mind blowing about the film?: The raptor dream sequence, is dumb and very poorly done, but here's a twist to it that gives it a whole different meaning. Earlier in the film, Alan is saying to the parrot "Alan, my name is Alan, say Alan" but get's no response... the raptor on the plane is supposed to finally respond, giving foreshadowing of the relationship between birds and dinos... I cannot make this shit up lol
@ARGAtheropodfan

Sarah Samuelsson No.I can't believe I'm actually defending this film, but raptors were that smart. In the original JP, they set a trap for Muldoon in the "Clever Girl" scene. One raptor distracted him, posing as a target, while the other moved to his flank, then jumping out at him from the side.In fact, real raptors millions of years ago were extremely intelligent too. There's this measurement called EQ (Encephalization Quotient) that compares the relative size of the brain case to the size of the animal's body. As a point of reference, a chimp has an EQ of 2.5, a dolphin of 5.6, and a human of 7.4. Raptor skulls have an EQ of 5.8.Clever girl indeed.
@SthaBest
9 жыл бұрын
Six Foot Turkey Yes, but the trap set in this film was ridiculous. Udesky(I think that's his name) was used as a puppet and it made Mrs. Kirby fall perfectly and get her foot stuck in the tree, in perfect hanging distance above the dead body. The trap from the first movie I get. That's perfectly fine. But I don't get raptors using a dead body as a puppet. What did they do? Poke it with a stick?
@sixfootturkey8198
9 жыл бұрын
Sarah Samuelsson Haha, I know what you mean. But I think Udesky moved on his own. The raptors certainly didn't make him move, but it makes me think it's stupidly lucky that he happened to move when they saw him (but I guess that's stupid in its own way). And the raptors didn't plan for Mrs. Kirby to get her foot stuck; I think they just assumed humans would come to help Udesky. That, at least, sounds within the realms of their intelligence to me..

The raptor dream sequence was intended as part of the 'raptors can talk' setup. Earlier Alan was telling Ellie about how they thought raptors communicated verbally. Then they get that 3D printed thing at the dig. Alan hears the raptor calling for help, just to remind us, later. Then, surrounded by raptors at the end, he blows through it and 'talks' to the raptor. That was supposed to be a big payoff, it was actually kind of, 'Meh.' But actually I don't know why everyone has a problem with the dream sequence. When the film ended, I thought it was the cleverest thing in the film. Could it be because everyone had seen the other two films and there were no dreams in those films? Did it break the established franchise rules? Well, if it did, then so did Star Wars episode II and III. I don't remember a dream sequence in any of the original films.
@ARGAtheropodfan
8 жыл бұрын
Actually, there's another layer to the dream sequence: Alan, earlier in the film, is talking to this parrot and sayin "Say Alan, my name is Alan". But the parrot doesn't respond. The dream sequence later makes that scene look like foreshadowing fot the raptor's relation to birds.

Now, I somewhat enjoy it but I only watch this movie if I marathon Jurassic Park and The Lost World before it. I was honestly disappointed by JP3. It felt cold, sterile, and soulless compared to the original two which are two of my favorite movies of all time. I would have preferred it if Steven Speilburg had directed it because JP3 didn't feel anything like the other two. I enjoyed Alan Grant returning but the rest of the movie was a huge letdown. There are people out there that think JP3 is the best Jurassic Park movie or like it more than Lost World. I hope those people seek help because I don't understand why. Films are subjective but JP3 is no where close to the same level as its two predecessors.

So that dream was another of those nightmares, and the raptor saying 'Alan' is Billy saying 'Alan' spilling into the dream, a psychological phenomenon that does happen in real life.

Alan Grant's character in this film was really undermined; first he doesn't marry Ellie Sattler, then he accepts a cheque with a load of zeroes to go to an island he's never been on, and then spends most of the film being grumpy and leading a bunch of nitwits and one relatively smart kid. I might have been able to get over the Spinosaurus killing the T-Rex in the film if they didn't sabotage Grant; perhaps he and Ellie should have married and settled down, and perhaps instead of going to the island because of money, he goes to the island to rescue either a friend, colleague or family member - maybe Ellie herself, giving her a chance to shine and look after a bunch of stranded people while Grant sets out to save her and the other stranded people. I never really thought about the Kirbys being better suited as the villains, but that would have made for a great twist. I always thought Billy should have been more antagonistic as his motivations for stealing the Raptor eggs are pretty selfish and depraved, it it was played up we could have seen a strained Mentor/Student relationship between Grant and Billy. Also: I call that dream sequence: Big-Lipped Velociraptor Moment.

Oscar Stainton What would have been a lot better is if Alan and Ellie were married and they were both tricked to go on the island together and the Kirby's would be the antagonists but the kid would still be a protagonist. In this movie it seemed like Alan and Billy were ok with being manipulated onto the island, that should not have been the case. Also I feel like the Kirby's should have been played by different people that would be more intimidating. One last thing would probably have been to either put that Spinosaurus/ T-rex fight in a different place, extend it a bit or both.

Seriously, I don’t understand why people tent to hate this movie. People have stupid and pointless reasons on why they hate this movie, this movie is a masterpiece compared to any of the Jurassic world films. The movie is so damn fun and entertaining to watch, not disappointing at all. The spinosaurus was my favorite dinosaur growing up and just the sound of the spinosaurus roar in this movie sounds so cool it just makes me excited and I LOVE listening to it. The Kirby’s don’t bother me and they don’t ruin the movie for me like they might do to other people. In this movie I’m really happy to see that they’re introducing a new dinosaur to the franchise instead of just sticking to a couple of T. rexes which would be pretty disappointing. I love the scene where the spinosaurus attacks the plane, breaks through the gate and attacked a boat while surrounded by fire which is pretty sick. I’ve seen a few people think that this is the worst movie in the franchise which I’ll never understand why, fallen kingdom and dominion are definitely NOT better then this, at least this movie is still a dinosaur movie on isla sorna in the jungle then fallen kingdom which fallen kingdom contains dinosaur abuse and death and dominion just mostly talks about locusts and that’s it. I’d give this movie a B+

To be honest, I still like this movie over Lost World. With Lost World, you had maybe 3 good action scenes and the rest was just story and characters that I really didn't care about. With this one, I didn't care about the story either, but at least it kept throwing action scenes in that are fun enough to watch. This movie is essentially what a dinosaur movie was before the first Jurassic Park movie was made. They used to just be special effects showcases and not much else. The thing that made the original so great is that it was a social commentary on capitalism as much as it was a movie about the running and the screaming. The second two are just the running and the screaming without the commentary.

Stephen Leotti IDK I don't think you got The Lost World if you didn't get the commentary. There is a lot of messages going on in the film. It's flawed but I still enjoy watching it over JP3. There are some glaring plot holes, but you can say the same thing for JP3 like what the fuck killed the people on the Dino-Soar boat?! Why is Alan seeing an updated version of the Raptors in the film, shouldn't he see the Original tan skinned Raptors from the first movie? The Raptor resonator is totally useless. How can a Anti Tank Rifle with explosive Rounds not kill a Spinosaurus in one shot? For action scenes the Lost World has the Stegosaurus charge, You had the big stampede chase, the Trailer scene, Dieter getting his comeuppance, the Rexes terrorizing the camp. The Raptors picking apart the mercenaries, the Raptors chasing everyone through the villiage, the Rex terrorizing San Diego. That is a lot in my book. I'd say the Lost World had a lot going for it in terms of message. * The first Message is: Does a company have any right to animals they created? More importantly does someone who largely only had a hand in the creation of said animals, through money have a right? Ludlow didn't create these animals personally he and the board merely financed the creation. *Good intentions have dire Consequences. (Nick Van Owen's character is a shining example of this, He thinks his actions are justified by helping out the animals but really all the do is get people killed) The Trailers got trashed and Eddie got eaten because he tried to help the Baby Rex. The Mercs lost their communications cuz he let all the captured animals free. Then when the Rexes are chasing the group, Roland couldn't kill the rexes because Nick took his bullets. Thus causing him to Tranq the male Rex leading to the San Diego incident. My only problem with this is that Nick doesn't get punished for this. Like I said the movie is flawed. *Over Confidence can lead to one's downfall. (Dieter, Ludlow, Burke, and even Eddie get killed due to over confidence) Dieter due to thinking he's superior to the compy, Ludlow thinking that he's proven Malcom wrong, Burke, said the Rexes would leave them alone after they left their territory is killed by a Rex after following the trail Sarah accidently left behind. and Eddie with his neurotoxin dart launcher rifle still got eaten by the Rexes due to it getting stuck in the netting of his car that HE DESIGNED. *Nature doesn't need man to survive. Case in point the Entire Island. They broke through the Lysine Clause by settting up an ecosystem. Carnivores eating the Herbivores and the Herbivores eating the lysine rich environment. I mean you have a right to your own opinion, which is fine, but personally I like Lost World over JP3 because it just seems grander imo. It's like How I think Empire Strikes back is a better film than Return of the Jedi and the Original Star Wars. I don't think Lost World is as good as the first, but I think it's better than 3 by a good margin.
@irishman6414

CassDaMan1138 Dear Lord, that was a long reply. I can tell you're passionate, so I respect that. Honestly the only action scenes I think are decent are the one in the trailer with the glass, the raptors in the tall grass, and the T rex at the end. But maybe that's in the eye of the beholder so if you enjoy the others, well, you're allowed. Okay fine, The Lost World has a message I suppose. But it's pretty much the same one as the first movie isn't it? Don't play God. Right, thanks, we got it. And it's impossible to care about your message even if it's a good one if you don't GIVE A CRAP about the people in the story. Right? The biggest problem I have is the characters are just idiots. Most of the time the things the heroes do end up actually getting more people killed than if they used any common sense. Now, Ian Malcolm was an idiot in the first movie too, which is why he ended up almost killed (and actually killed in the book), but he wasn't the main character so I can forgive that. Here, literally the entire movie could have been avoided if anyone had applied ANY knowledge they gained from the first movie. It's just so stupid and unnecessary of a sequel I don't even know why it needed to exist except: ih0.redbubble.net/image.14230933.8486/fc,550x550,black.jpg Beyond that, it's not a very pleasant film to look it. The cinematography is really greyed out and desaturated. The first movie was so bright and colorful, with lots of greens and oranges and reds. At least the third film looks nicer. To be clear, I don't abjectly hate it. But given the choice I'll watch #3 over #2 because it's just an easier sit. The people are idiots, but at least the movie knows that so it's less frustrating.

Stephen Leotti Yea sorry for the bible sized post. Because I didn't have a good way to explain it in a short post on my mind at the time. I respect your opinion, I can see why you don't like it. That is cool. It is just that there are other people out there that just hate on films like this because OTHER people hate on films like this. And I can't stand that. At least you have a good reason for not liking it. You can explain it in depth. A lot of people just have this "Jump on the Bandwagon" hate for films like this because they take someone like the Nostalgia Critic's comedic view on something and go "Oh yea That is trash blah blah blah." Or heck, Spinosaur? Those two are already bigger." But when they mentioned they want a dino with bigger teeth, my brother who's been like a dino fan since he was a toddler said to me, "Yeah, they're definitely bigger but Spinosaur and Carcarodonthosaur's teeth are made to slice flesh. T Rex on the other hand can crush bones, so in teeth department, definitely T Rex." Then again Spinosaur have longer hands with those claws have pretty powerful grip, so it might be a draw.

The "Gymnastics Scene" from The Lost World means to give depth to Kelly's character. In an earlier scene, she explicitly says that she was cut from her gymnastics team. The gymnastics scene reflects on the earlier one, showing how good she actually is at gymnastics, making the audience speculate as to how much better the other members had to be for her to be cut, or if she was cut for other reasons. Also, the comment "They cut you from the team?" Ian Malcolm gives following her performance is used as comic relief for the tension built up by the raptors presence. And as for the dream sequence in Jurassic Park III, it shows how traumatized Allen Grant was from his experiences on the first island. Usually, after people go through traumatic experiences, they develop Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, which can lead to nightmares and hallucinations featuring their encounters. Thus these two scenes are valid. You'll probably never read this comment, but you're welcome anyway. :)

The best part of the movie is the scene when the Spinosaurus attack them on the boat. It's less about the Spinosaurus and more about Paul Kirby trying to save his broken family, and it honestly feel like it's the climax of the movie. The impact that that scene should have had is lost however because the movie has done such a poor job getting the audience to care about them. As for who the human antagonist of the film should have been, I think Dodgson should have made some kind of return, promising to bring either Ellie Sattler or the Kirby's to the island and then trying to kill them, kind of like with Sarah Harding in The Lost Word novel. Dodgson! DODGSON! We don't have Dodson here . . .

I just wish it wasn't cramped in with Kelly's kid being an idiot and distracted by watching Barney. But hey, he's only five years old. What else can he do?

John Stanly - But Jurassic World was horribly bad! It was just a mindless summer blockbuster with little to no idea or plot. Every dinosaur was unacceptably bad CGI and no animatronics at all. Also, some of the characters were awful, including the dinosaurs. I-Rex was an idiotic idea of an gene manipulated monster and I'm pretty sure that any 3 year old could invent something more original. The brothers (especially the younger one) were super annoying and stereotypical and you just couldn't care less about what happens to them. When I went to see JP3, I walked out from the theater after seeing Spinosaurus destroying one of my favorite franchises, by killing the T-rex and I wasn't the only one. My freaking childhood was ruined by this travesty! And Still.. Jurassic World was even worse. Everything in it just feels artificial, un-interesting and cheap. It has this "Hollywood mass-produce" feeling from start to finish. Nothing makes you think that it was actually made with passion and artistic view rather than just making fast and easy dollars. Only good think in JW was the fact they brought back the Rexy but for some reason she had to be beaten senseless by the piece of shit I-Rex. It's almost like they actually thought something good for the script and managed to fuck it up anyway. JW is a perfect example of how most movies are made today. Tons of CGI, mindless plot, bad actors or characters and about 3 million different ideas which most of them aren't really good. If they could just make a movie with one idea that is made well, instead of a hundred mediocre ones that are made badly! Money talks!

Dylan Cunningham - Exactly, I couldn't believe my eyes when I saw how many people seem to like Jurassic World in the comment section. Is it really that these days mindless blockbusters with little to no idea, tons of bad CGI and horrible characters are considered to be good? JW had so artificial feeling from start to finish not to mention this fucking gene manipulated monster in the leading dino-role. I mean 3 year olds could invent something more original than that! I guess these days it's better to make a bad movie from million mediocre ideas, rather than making a movie from one good idea and make it well.

The one thing i really hate in JP3 is the cast. The mum, dad, son and Billy annoy the shit out of me.

Yes the batterie doesnt fit into the cam. BUT, you can see yellow cables conecting the flashlight and the camcorder. Only problem with this scene is, it is missing some seconds to show how he connected it and hold the cables to make it abvious.

My list of tweaks that could have easily improved this movie. 1) Have Dr. Grant & Dr. Sattler be a happily married couple who happen to be going through some financial difficulties. 2) Make the Kirby parents the villains along with being former investors in the Park who lost all their money due to the fallout from the first two movies. 3) The motivation of the villains should be wanting to save their son while also hiring people to extract dinosaur material (eggs) so that they can secure their financial future for their family. 4) Raise interesting questions between Dr. Grant and the parents over whether or not their desire to save their financial future is worth the price of putting all of humanity at risk. 5) Show that Dr. Grant understands the villains motivations upon recently becoming a parent himself. 6) Instead of killing off the T-Rex in the first 20 minutes, they should have written it so that the T-Rex & Spinosaurus are constantly competing with the each other other who will get to eat the humans. Kind of like two cats fighting over who will get to eat a family of mice. But, that's just me. I know writing is hard, but that's so excuse for having a lazy script.

This is my favourite franchise of all time, and I would rank the movies like this Jurassic park: Perfect masterpiece, a classic. 20/10 The Lost World: Underrated movie, a lot of fun and very enjoyable. 7.5/10 Jurassic World: A good, fun movie. Not great, it has flaws, but is 2 decent hours of entretainment. 7/10 Jurassic Park ///: A waste of time. Terrible. Only the dinosaurs, Grant and Sattler were good, screw the rest: 4/10.

So your best franchise has only one movie with a score 8 or higher. That's a kinda shitty franchise :O

Andreas Kroon A shitty franchise would be one when only 1 film has a score of 6 or higher. This is a franchise with 1 fantastic movie, 2 good ones and a shitty one. And the bad one wasn't the last one. That's not bad in my book.

@Chris Stuckkman how about when they didn't hear the dinasoar "creep" up on them. And they heard a ringtone from its belly! Then it bashes through steel fencing but cannot get through a locked shed door!
