The problem with the first game and I hope it’s better in this one is the fact that you never had to really manage the guests needs, they just felt like placeholders because the game had to have ‘guests’ in the park. I remember playing Zoo tycoon yrs ago which seemed to hit the perfect balance

My main problem with the last game is that the dinosaurs didn’t feel like they mattered. In operation genesis they created social groups, were territorial with other predators of their size Ate when they were hungry or needed to fulfil a need to hunt. In the last game carnivores just murdered anything they saw all the time.They didn’t even eat their kills as I recall
@T-REX-KNIGHT

They added packs and herds a long while ago. Carnivores hunt when hungry but it does feel like it's a bit too often.

I found the first game was a little mixed, the dinosaur stuff was good but the park management was borderline nonexistent which was a shame as I was looking forward to a game more along the lines of 'Parkasaurus'. The maps also felt really tiny with one or two enclosures often taking up the majority of the space, which made it feel really restrictive with what you could do with those enclosures as there just wasn't room to experiment.

As far as I've heard, the dinosaurs will expand their territory as long as they do not find what they need. So with your big patch of sand example, they should look for it and eventually find it.
@RepublicOfPlay
3 жыл бұрын
Hm, seems to take a long time then as I left them wandering for about 15mins and they never moved over to it.. the other thing is that the coverage shrinks as well as grows. So if they take a long time to get to the sand, they might lose coverage of the trees or water.

I speculate chaos theory mode like many other speculate that you will choose what film you wish to play in and you have to either prevent or deal with the problems differently then they dealt with it in the movie so perhaps in JW instead of sending people in you use the beacon or something like that..maybe the mission is to prevent what would occur in the movies.
@BarneyGoogl

In JRE 1 you could check the needs of a dino before incubating, but you had to have hatched at least 1 before in any park. It was in the info panel in the hatchery building, but I don't think the game ever really tells you about it.

I think that the reason that they made it to where the dinosaurs roam to their desired terrain and stay away from other terrain is because they wanted to to make the dinosaurs just more realistic. And for the players that aren’t big on making zoo like parks but morelike reserves or safaris, it would help keep dinosaurs where you want them to be based on where they should be without using fences. Except to protect the guests and staff ofcourse.

Looks great! building seems quite well thought out and the ui looks robust and intuitive and I love the idea of taking control of the staff and interacting with the dino's up-close I hope they expand on this much more. Hopefully the maps are truly massive I see it to much where they make this amazing hitter of a game but then the maps are to small to really get creative. One thing I will say that is definitely a negative is the animations seem quite plain and repetitive I can already tell I would get bored of seeing the same movements over and over (the pteranodon pickup was a big give away) that is unfortunately what has killed my immersion in many games. I'm hopeful though that these are things that aren't just me and will (fingers crossed) be addressed before release. I'm curious if this will be friendly to modding?

Well, paleontology is still about making educated guesses based on old bones. So I wouldn't speak in absolutes.
