After running an errand the late morning of Feb 28, 2023, I took a short drive over to Utica NY's Schuyler Street on the off chance I'd catch New York, Susquehanna & Western's morning train. As the crew had been on the road between 8-9 am of late I didn't really expect to catch them.
However, as I turned onto Schuyler from Noyes Street, there was No. 3040 leading its short train southward in the midst of a snow squall. So, I was in luck.
I next caught the train a few minutes later as it ran parallel to New York State Routes 8 & 12.
Then, approximately 90 minutes later after doing some switching in New Hartford, the short freight is seen on Paris Hill's 1.8% grade in Clayville.
The concluding scene is at Greens Crossing, Paris NY, 15 miles south of the Susquehanna's Utica yard and site of a boiler explosion on a southbound passenger locomotive on February 22, 1896 (note that this video was made a few days after the 127th anniversary of the accident).
