I have a pair of M6's on my desk, fed by their fabulous 100W power supply. A clean operation, but it could be cleaner with this. Dangit Lee!

Touchscreen - I've been waiting for this for ages :D Nice! They listen to customers! I'm using HTRC T400 Pro though - it has a resistive screen.

Seen a few reviews on this & all have struggled with the touchscreen! So the main feature is flawed. The individual cell info should be on screen, i get why they made the screen like that, very fancy looking but i’d rather have the info i need like on my icharger duo.

Awesome review, Lee! Thanks! 😃 Yeah, they need to work on it a bit... But that's definitely not bad! Not bad at all! Anyway, stay safe there with your family! 🖖😊

Great review Lee, Thanks! I do like the 2A balance current. Would be cool to do a time test with a similarly charged battery next to the Gens Ace Imars Dual which has 1.2 A balance current.

Quick question: Does this charger save the settings that you have defined? So if you power it off and then on again, will it resume operating in the mode it was set for?

Nice piece of kit as a field charger . At first glance the touch screen is overcrowded and all the same problem with this “new tech” : 1 If u have giant digits you will struggle with the charger . 2. I doubt club members that normally are over 65 /70 will use something like this over the usual plug in “push few buttons and charge” units. It would be great if they concentrate on security features rather than looks . There are still a lot of (too many) lupo fires Having said that … wow it talks to you ! 😂 I love it

I agree, a lovely screen like this should be used to tall you the stuff you need to see at a glance - easily. Having the main screen show speedo-style instruments showing charging current looks cool for a thumbnail, but is less useful in practice. Being able to easily see percentage of charge done, charge current and estimated time remaining is what most of us want to see at a glance!

Is there a clever mode for charging a 13s lithium Battery ? Would be great for maintaining ebike and scooter batteries. Can be used anyway with some wiring thinking .....

a bit too much and I will stay with my relilable Graupner Ultramat from 10 years ago which is very reliable with the fancy colourfull displays. Learned a lot from that and for the field I got a ISDT 608PD can not discharge. Therefore got the SkyRC B6Neo afterwards and now I have enough options to charge. Anyhow good review but too much for me.

Seems like a very nice DC Charger. Can it do continuous charging ? (the mode when once the battery is full you can swap with an empty one and it starts charging right away) It is pretty useful from drone racing

Yes it does have a continuous charge option called "Continuous Work". See the online manual.

An AC charger simply converts it inside. With this you can add the bulk of the AC > DC part if you want to charge at home and leave that bulk at home if you are mobile. A 1500w power supply at home and a small 100w USB c charger and cord for traveling

A 1200W server power supply is $20 on eBay all day. It's 12V 100A with 220-240V and 900W with 100-120V so more like 85A if you're in N America and using a standard 120V outlet. You can series them with $10 in parts (at most...you could do it with a few bucks if you wanted) and get ~25.2V and 85A. They also make lower power ones. 460W's are my favorite since they go for $8 if you buy lots of 3+ usually. And 2 in series is 920W which leaves some room left on that circuit for other things that are consuming power. 25.2V 38A is enough for most chargers....a handful of the big big chargers like the iCharger 458 Duo would benefit from either 3 server power supplies in series (or 4) or a "48V" telecom recitifier like an Eltek Flatpack or Huawei R4875G2

I have an M6D which is used as part of a charge station at home, powered by a 60A Dell server PSU (£12!) and I also use it for field charging. I've also heard some negatives about Toolkit RC but the M6D, along with an M7 that I mainly use indoors as part of a bench power supply, have been faultless. I prefer their operating methods to my 4 button ichargers. I like the looks of this M8D and would buy one if I needed the higher charging current. This said, I don't like the look of that touch screen. It appears not to be implemented to a high enough standard in many respects and I prefer the simpler displays on their lesser devices.

I've watched a few of these reviews, tried to search through the manual, and can't find an answer. The idst air8 has a "power supply" setting that lets you output like 10-30v at up to 10a (while the battery charging can do 20a). It isn't clear at all whether or not the newer isdt 608pd can do "power supply" mode... and this M8D appears the same way. I understand these are for charging batteries primarily, but having a small device like this on a large battery to power all kinds of DC *should* be easy to add in their firmware... put it behind some warnings if need be. If this could do 50a at 17v or 21v or 6v... man, that would be way better than most anything else out there for the size.

Tell me, does the internal resistance of the batteries show correctly or is this function not accurate? :) I need to test the wear level of batteries at my work. I can, of course, do this with a special device, but it’s more convenient right away while charging. Thank you.

I wouldn't trust the reading to be super accurate as the same battery can read differently on different chargers.. Happy flying

Thanks for the video. Hopefully a M8DAC will be next, with a 200w or higher mains power supply.
