A Conrail painted SD40-2, CSXT 8888 (The original Unstoppable Locomotive), CPL's and Much More! During my Spring Break of 2015 I headed out with my family to West Virginia and Virginia to go see what was out that way. On our way we spent the night in Huntington WV which is home to CSX's Huntington Shops. While at the Amtrak Station I looked down the deadline and saw maybe the last Conrail Painted locomotive on a class 1 railroad. CSXT 8865 still wears its Conrail Quality paint while it sits in the deadline awaiting for what I have heard to be a rebuild as part of the SD40-3 project. Also in the deadline is CSXT 8888 the locomotive that the 2010 movie "Unstoppable" was based off of. The next day we drove to Williamsburg VA and that night I decided to do some night shots at the station, so I shot video handheld, and on the last train as the locomotives came by my camera jump out of focus and there was nothing I could do about it. Three days later on the way back to the Midwest we stopped east of Bluefield WV to wait for a train to pass through the CPL signals that for the time being were still standing even though the new signal mast is already in place. We saw two trains in this location only shot video of one on my iPhone since my video camera was dead for some reason, I gave my phone to my dad to video it, while I focused on getting the photo I wanted from this location which I got. All in all a fun trip, and I hope to be back to this part of the country soon to take in more of the railroading action. Enjoy!
