The heroes acted very stupidly in JLD: AW. They attacked a planet of which they had no knowledge, while knowing that Darkseid was most probably setting up a trap. And based their plan on their one direct encounter with Darkseid that happened more than 5 years ago by that point. Also, they were fully aware that he was behind Doomsday and Cyborg Superman, who gave them a lot of challenges, but for some reason, ignored the possibility of him being able to create more of them and thought he only had Parademons, which was what led to their downfall. Also, the fact that no-one suspected Cyborg and his Apocalypse technology was uncharacteristic of them, especially Batman . Even Dceased addressed that.

I mean you can say it was just desperation from Superman. If the animated timeline is consistent then Apokolips War happened after some time of Superman's death and such. Batman would probably have made a lot of better choices but again desperation is desperation.
@NightRunner2099

@@jamesbond3w It still doesn't explain why none of them had an eye on Cyborg. His situation had nothing to do with Sup's death. Also, that's probably the thing they want you to take away from it, hence Damian's comment. He even attacks Luthor for daring to speak against him. However, it's still out of character for them, especially Superman, to attack like this. Even if they wanted to be proactive, they should have planned more carefully and thought it out with more consideration instead of this. Allowing his emotions to guide his actions into something that could very well be their end was also stupid. I'm aware that he's human at his core, but this is just asking to unalive yourself.

I know an english major writing anything on a video is a nothing But something I despise about Apokolips war, is that it feels like the most Nihilistic take on every new 52 story mashed together into the ULTIMATE "well, flash point 2" And while I like the animated universe we had, I would've rather a Justice League dark film WASN'T the end of NEW 52 getting adapted to animation. A lot of people look back at that time and hate it... but I miss it. I miss the hero coming out on top, I miss there being a face value humanity to every story. I miss Justice League Unlimited, but that's what makes this new universe so... Boring? Like, even in Apokolips war which I hate, you see Victor and Shazam's relationship on full display, and they give it, what, 10 seconds? It's just frustrating, seeing all these amazing relationships that happened across 15-20 films, be erased by one film's actions. Batman and Hal, Zatana and Constantine, Nightwing and Damian (HELL, Damian and the Teen titans are all great together, and it stings to see what they do to them.) It just comes across like senseless murder, whereas the current Crisis film series has senseless death but... at least the characters seem somewhat human, and flawed at times without that flaw being "Super murder time" or "I gave up my principles when I lost (insert character name here) " TLDR: I liked the New 52 animated films, and I wish we didn't have to reset that universe alongside the ACTUAL DC film universe. Because I love long term relationships and human emotions. More writers need to focus on them, and not themselves.

DC animated films used to be dark but hopeful, always mixing amazing action, and super heroics with great emotional scenes and great characters........this film was just focus on GORE and shock factor because modern DC comics knows nothing about creating heartfelt stories like they used to, we got from Batman Under the Red Hood, The Dark Knight Returns and so many amazing films to....this........what I hate the most is that not all films of this period where bad, I loved the Death of Superman and even the follow and Batman Bad Blood, Batman Gotham by Gaslight (I know this one is stand alone but still was released around the same period of new 52 adaptations), I wish this universe ended in a more hopeful optimistic way, this film sour the entire run of films knowing how all ends, just depressing, hope to god James Gunnm stay as FAR AWAY as possible from this tone for his DC films.

I honestly never like JLD: AW and I think it speaks to that animated movie universe as a whole. At the end of the day everything just felt so forced and selective. If they really wanted a Darkseid war, they should've just adapted the New 52 Earth-2 storyline. It just doesn't work with our usual batch of heroes. Would've been amazing if they did a multipart finale that was the New 52 Darkseid war and gave us a good sendoff to this universe. Like I would have loved to see all the heroes go on their journeys amping up for the fight (God of Gods Shazam on screen would of been legendary). Plus they could bring in multiple universes and get into the stuff like the consequences of Darkseid's "death" and so on. JLD: AW just felt like such a forced movie where everyone acts brain dead and out of character and is underpowered (superman really isn't the strongest leaguer, he's just the most popular) and we're supposed to applaud them for that because there's blood.
