As a Bears fan, I am stoked for the CW era, but man it still hurts to see that the JF1 era came to an end so soon. He fought every play while both regimes he played under did the best they could to not build a good unit around him. I really, really hope he becomes the franchise guy for the Steelers. Even if he never reads defenses fast enough to be an elite QB, I think he can be a QB a team can win with if they put good pieces around him (ala Jalen Hurts).

Elite?.. Maybe as a running q.b. But that’s it. Way slow to read the defenses, that’s why he ran so much. Never really saw him throw anybody open. Great guy though, but he’ll never be elite. Maybe middle of the pack that’s about it.

I am Chicago born and raised and this was the biggest mistake the bears made. I am now rooting for the Steelers to thrive and JF2 make them regret that decision. I love my bears but I’m pissed.

Facts, Muhammad. Fields had sub par weapons - til DJ Moore arrived - OL protection and different HCs and OCs in the 3 years he was in Chicago. While I think he’s better than Caleb, we’ll likely never see a fair comparison since they now have 3 bona fide WR1s and much better defensive talent.

Yea that shxt was weird. They could have racked up by trading #1. Definitely changed everything for us. Ijh he takes the positives of whats left of russ & can hold the ball a bit better. GL🫱🏾🫲🏽

Pace would have kept him, given him a bloated contract and messed up our cap/roster. Trust in Poles. Hiring him was the best decision the Bears as an org has ever made. Caleb is legit. Be happy to be a Bears fan. And in response to below-- @muhammadazar8185 man, I’ve watched a lot of Caleb’s tape, and not just his highlights. But you know who watched more tape? NFL scouts, GMs and analysts. Any team in the Bears fortunate situation would have done the same. He’s got it all. Plus, the reason Justin only fetched a conditional 6th (besides Poles doing him a favor) is because Justin lacks vision and has a slow release. His tape was damning. His highlights were spectacular, I loved watching him and still will. But in 3 years he didn’t develop the ability to consistently see the field, throw with anticipation and fix his slow release. It was time to move on. Caleb excels in all the areas Justin lacks, plus he has great athleticism and a much better ability to manipulate the pocket. His release is lightning, his vision is total and sharp and he makes all the throws. Justin is a see it throw it QB. That’s why he thrived in OSU, he had a field of elite, wide open WRs. He threw well to DJ last year, and Cole. But he still failed to anticipate. He missed loads of open WRs. They said it when he came out, and they know it still. Poles only mistakes so far are the Claypool trade, the failures at C, and drafting Velus (though we will see if he can finally be a weapon this year, both on kickoffs and with a QB with great touch and vision on short passes). Trust in Poles. It’s a good day to be a Bears fan.

Justin is a great guy and I wish him the best, but dude processes information way to slow. He’ll never be elite. Glad the bears recognized that and took a chance with the number one pick.

@@GCTization pace would have done something crazy like that but I feel this is the one mistake Poles made. Everyone talks about Caleb but actually go watch his tape. I have seen anything he can do that JF2 didn’t do in college. I’ll see you in three years when all Bear fans will be calling for the next top qb.

He will be a great QB for Steelers. Bears are a pathetic organization with pathetic coaches. Last year coaching lost at least 3 games. JF went from a 3 win team to almost 10 wins just by getting one decent receiver. We in Chicago will follow him in Pittsburgh and wish him best of luck.

This is a bit strange since both players are playing for next years contracts, but both cannot play every snap. I cannot wait to see how they are managed, whether or not Wilson can stay off the IL and whether or not JF1 can finally read defenses, get rid of the ball quicker and learn to use his eyes more effectively against defenses. That said, they re both QB1's somewhere. I will always have a warn spot in my heart for Justin, but it was time for the Bears to move on. Good luck to both of them and the Steelers.
