Not strictly Editors, but close enough to qualify for the Archive.
Justin Lockey has many, many things going on at any given time. He's a purposefully busy guy. Even within the confines of playing in Editors he has contributed as both as writer and producer of their music, as well as filming promos for the group as part of the Hand Held Cine Club. Outside of that he takes photographs, travels extensively, writes screenplays and raises awareness of issues concerning the mental health among musicians. If you wanted to pick something to admire about the man creatively, you're pretty spoiled for subject matter. This video is one of mine.
When Justin travels, he has an ability to convey the mood of what he experienced very acutely. A few years ago when Editors were touring, he would post regular photos from airports around the world. Named mostly using the 3 letter IATA location identifiers, they were still images but you were still able to discern the feeling of what it's like to travel through those environments. As with all good art, you could see what you wanted to see in it and I could see the sterility, space and impersonal nature of moving from one destination to another by air. I was a big fan.
Released via Instagram in January 2024, the footage in this video comes from three separate clips that I've joined into one because they all share a similar mood, as well as a singular theme. Again, from his time travelling they feature various shots from moving trains with what I believe is original music from the Justin. Most of us have seen a view from a train window before, this makes you really look at it. Enjoy ;)
PS: The title of the video is not from Justin himself, the clips came without labels.
