Having a lovely time playing. It's as though the older magpies are jealous he's having so much fun. Love the songs of contentment in the background.

Playful baby. Our baby from last season is now in magpie heaven. It was blind in one eye but was doing extremly well but it must have met with a bad outcome. I really loved that baby it was such a sweetie 🥰 This seasons baby is progressing well but is still a bit stand-offish. It will come within about 2 feet of me but won’t take food from my hand. It’s good though that it’s a cautious baby, it might have a good survival chance. Mummy magpie sometimes gets angry with the baby so I get angry with the mummy 😡

Oh this is just SO delightful watching these young magpies rolling around with their toys & looking no different to how kittens play! I never knew birds could roll around the way these are doing. I remember seeing it snowing once & I was thinking 'Oh poor birds' & then saw some black birds rolling down the windshield of a car! Obviously really enjoying themselves! I was so thrilled at seeing that as it gave me a totally different perspective. A happy one. Btw, don't ever throw bacon rind out for birds when it snows as they think its' a worm & they can't digest it & it kills them.

Wow one of your videos just popped up seeing it was Maggie’s I had to have a look. I’ve got a family that visit me most days I do love them muchly. I put out off cuts of meat and chicken whenever I have some. They’re fabulous to watch. I don’t have grass in my backyard where they and the lorikeets come and visit I wish I did then maybe I’d get to see them play more. I absolutely love them singing to me too but I had absolutely no idea of how huge a range of sounds they could make. Thank you so much for sharing and educating me too. I couldn’t help but subscribe immediately. Cheers cherieK 🦋🌈🐿🇦🇺

I saw this behaviour with the pies round here. It seems like the adults are picking on juveniles but I think there's more to it. Do you know why? The mother at first was trying to keep sitting on one but then attacked it, not injuring. Social interaction training for when they have to find new territory I suppose. Do they get kicked out once the grey turns black?
