Another excellent vid George, the loadings on the three-point linkage and central plough shaft must be enormous! Nice finish on the work.

You guys do a great job plowing, just seems like a lot of weight hanging on the hitch of the tractor, We use semi mounted plows here in the States ,if we plow at all

That headland being pounded down hard is making her growl a bit even with that loamy soil! On heavier soil with that furrow width you will need some serious front weight and then we will see it really working hard for sure. What sort of % wheelslip is she showing just now?

Are there any benifits between in,furrow ploughing and on land ploughing.

That's a lot of plow hanging on back there for a fully mounted plow. Makes the JCB bark a little. Being an American farmer, I've always been fascinated with the reversible plows found in Europe. What exactly is the advantage to those versus the semi mount plows we use in the US? The only major difference I see is the lack of dead furrows. Seems like you spend a lot of time getting turned around.

At least here in Norway most of our fields are much more challenging than most american fields regarding step slopes and tight corners. Often we have to plow "sideways" and not straight up a hill, it is not uncommon that a hill slopes in two directions, if we then used a semi mounted plow it would simply "slide" down the hill and just make a total mess. This is not a problem with the kind of plow above. Anyway, the plow in the video would be way to big for most norwegian fields. I would guess that 4 and 5 furrows are most common. And with a semi mounted plow you need much more space for turning, in extreme cases we use more space turning than we actually plowed back and forth. And if you have to turn the plow in a slope, which often is the case, you could actually risk that a semi mounted plow would tip over. The short answer is that plowing is all about precision to hide alle the weeds. A semi mounted plow simply does not provide this precision. If you dont do it properly you could just as well use a cultivator which is much cheaper and less time consuming. Funfact, the plow in the video is actually norwegian made, Kverneland.

He is using to much time turning around cause they make to small a headland. Headland should be at a minimum big enough for making a 180 without reversing. They will save a lot of time, tear and wear and diesel

if there was way too much weight the tractor wouldnt lift it. Its not even struggling. Youre talking out of your arsehole, you must be american

The Yellow box with wheels? It's mainly tools and weight to balance the plow

No, not the front weights - there's a small plowshare just in front of the main moldboard plow. It comes into view around 2:17. Thought it might be there to break the root structure of the cover crop but don't know for sure.
