You're a beast! You flow with your knowledge and convey it with the simplicity of a minimalist speaker. In short, you show what needs to be done, while only saying what needs to be said. No corny jokes, puns, and unnecessary overreaching dialogue. I don't mind those things, as long as it isn't extremely annoying, but the way you teach is my PREFERRED approach for teaching and learning. Cheers! You da man!

Your algorithm is set up in a tight and rigorous manner so that with a slight modification, the code could be undoubtedly applicable to almost every practical setting which requires a use of kd algorithm as a basis . I will recommend this link to my students and they realize how the KD algorithm is actually written in the code of python. Thanks.

I think time complexity would be linearithmic as we are calculating distance from the point to any other point (which requires n*log(n) time because of sqrt operation and n - 1 points), we could optimize this by simply calculating distance^2 and in the end when we have found the lowest number just take square root from it.

Do you can teach how to make "fog of war" with Kd tree? Regards

That's a interesting request! Thank you! I'll think what I can do about it. But I have a pretty busy schedule, so I cannot promise anything, sorry. I think you can implement fog of war even by using a linear look up, but of course using K-d Trees will just make it faster.

Hi! Thank you! :) I published the entire source code and all of the SVG files here: github.com/tsoding/kdtree-in-python I guess the file that you need is points.svg. Thanks for you comment I just realized that I forgot to put the link to the source code in the description of the video. :)

instead of all these nonsense just calculate the Pythagoras distance from the main point and put it in the "best_point" and compare it in the next loop. what a mess.
