Mario, Luigi and Toad are on a top secret mission to slip past the security in one of Bowser's Castles. Our heroes will have to be extra careful as they race past the constant eye of the searchlights. Our racers are facing their most dangerous track ever. Welcome to Searchlight Castle!
This course is inspired off of Super Mario 3D World, level 5-7 - Searchlight Sneak. I love the style of this level. I love the idea of searchlights drifting across the level looking for intruders. So I decided to make it into a race course. Plus a couple of other fun elements.
I do want to apologize for the fuzziness and/or darkness of some of the video. Normally I shoot with a lot of light, but working with a searchlight was a real challenge for the picture integrity. If I work in good lighting, the searchlight couldn't even be seen. So poor lighting was required for the searchlight to work. Thanks for understanding.
Be sure to watch the whole video. There's a tutorial at the end on how I made the searchlight with the Bowser insignia alarm. It took several revisions and the end product isn't perfect but it was still fun to make. Be sure to check it out!
The Cat Bills (Cat Bullet Bills) are the same ones I made for Airship Fortress a year ago. I've been wanting to get them back in the action. I added pipe cleaner tails and ears. Painted on mouths and white underbellies to look the part. I also hope you liked the sound effects of the cat growls as the Cat Bills launch into action. The sound is rather faint in the game. My little brother gets a good laugh at hearing them (probably because he likes it when our cat makes that noise at him).
Whomps! I've been wanting to add Whomps into a race course for ages. I've had the idea written on an index card for nearly a year (along with several dozen other ideas that I want to utilize). Here they are and my Dad rocks at making them look fierce! The Whomps are made from a slab of wood. Painted. The arms and feet are made of paper mache, held in place by short pieces of black pipe cleaner. I drilled holes in their upper backs to work them like a marionette with knex pieces. I even included the bandaides that go in the middle of their broken backs. I took pictures and printed those of broken down karts from straight above to give the karts the appearance of being truly flattened by the Whomps. Hope you liked the added effect. If you do, let me know and maybe the karts will get crushed by other large objects in future videos ;)
I also decided to add Amps again. I used Amps back in Bowser Castle 2 SNES course. However, one follower mentioned to me that Amps don't usually move, they just spin in a circle. He was right, so to work with this idea, I opted to make the track slide back and forth beneath the stationary spinning Amps. Hope everyone's happy now with that.
Thanks again to ClefferNotes for the awesome music! This time I used the music titled
"Yarn Yoshi Music: Heist" Be sure to check out his channel!
Also a big thanks to my whole family: Mom, Dad and my sisters! They were all crammed into my room helping with this project. Thanks so much!
Is there anything else that I'm missing? Please let me know in the comments. Don't forget to like. As always, thanks for the awesome support you all give me!
