I've tracking a 2.5 swapped NC1 since 2021 Got the car for $4k, didn't have my own space to work on it when the original 2.0 spun a bearing so I paid a local shop $5k to slap a 2.5 in and there's been zero issues with the powertrain (engine, trans and diff) since the swap roughly I'm only $15k deep that includes suspension, bushings, rollbar/harness bar, and burning through 3 new sets of tires for the car

I know people that do the same. I believe their comment about reliability is based on competitive Motorsports use. If you're not competing, I think this swap is a complete waste of money compared to the 2.5 duratec swap. I really don't understand why k power even developed this swap and I think they won't put the money into refining it, because the demand will be low. 15-20k vs 3k is a non starter for most people.

The one point I'd make against your last idea of looking at C5s or E92s is consumables. Miatas, 86s are so much cheaper on those items.

I found a hidden track car gem a while back: I picked up an E82 2008 BMW 128i 6MT w/sport package for $4700. With a junkyard 3-stage intake manifold, OEM Euro intake & a tune the car put down an extra 27whp & 32wtq over stock in a car that only weighs a touch over 3000 lbs with a perfect 50/50 weight distribution. The N52 is reliable as an anvil and replacements are only about $1000. It’s a car that’s been doing very well in a few time attack classes that a lot of people overlook.

I used to have a 128i with the M sport package and a manual. It was a gem to rev and cruise through the mountains. I sold it because of continual and expensive AC issues. In the grand scheme of things, 40k is not that bad at all for well sorted track car. If the BADASS2000 was redone in today's market, it would likely go a healthy amount past that number due to starting base car price and that's coming from an S2000 owner. Good breakdown. I'm currently stuck between turbo charging my NB or replacing the motor with a K24A. Main issue is that I'm running a 1.6, there just seems to be more support for the 1.8 when it comes to driveline so I'm hesitent. An off the shelf turbo kit in the UK runs about 3.5k-4k. A JDM K24 can be had for about £1k and then the swap kit from KPower you have already went over. So it's 4k-5k turbo charge (room for unknowns) or £10-11k for a K swap.

Especially just to get started, because let's be real, you're that far into it, why wouldn't you put a set of cams in the k24 along with whatever else you want to throw at it. I wish there was a 2.5 header option so I could reuse my Goodwin exhaust and it would give you more options. I'd do cams as well.

I keep thinking an LGX (Camaro V6) would be about the perfect P/W ratio for an NC or ND.

I've got a fully forged 2.0 nc turbo with ported and polished head, running 0.6 bar, making a reliable 321bhp. Now done 30k miles, mix of track and road, with no problems. Total cost. the car =£15k Mods =£20k SO.... £35k final cost. Bang for bucks in my opinion.

How’s the vibration? My sr20 can lay 12 laps at TMP without a worry of overheating. But looking to swap to something and every KZitemr that’s done a kswap doesn’t drive the car after and most contribute it too the vibrations wondering if this will just be another car built and never driven.

Pre 2010, when I was planning on LSx swapping my S14, it made sense over an SR20DET/turbo KA24DE/etc. With the change in prices, K24 seems to be the way these days. I'm not sure I can fit in a Miata, but the BRZ/FRS/G86 is very tempting!

Can yall do a K swap FRS, GT86, or BRZ? I really want a nice looking track car and I think those cars would probably be as fun as the miata build.

I was curious why you didn't put BBR's super 225 kit on it, tbh. 225 NA HP out of the stock 2.0, raises the redline quite a bit, and the glorious ITB sounds

BBR's kit is not 225 whp. its 225 crank. So probably around 190 wheel if I were to guess. Big difference, and no where near the torque of the k24
