That was a cool technique with loading the dyno. I went to school to learn how to tune and I am certified on some platforms. Tuned all of my own vehicles and some friends. Always done on the street though as I have never had a dyno. But knowing of that benefit adds value for me to invest in a dyno. Thanks.

Hey Nick, loving the transparent tuner info you provide. Thanks for the great content.. just a quick question, is this measurement in wheel hp or flywheel hp? Just comparing some results as this is the engine i have, and exactly the cams i want to use. Is it true that the difference between pre-06 model and 06-08 models become almost none existent when using aftermarket cams? Seems like that's the most drastic change on 06-08 models

technically the HP would not change - but the "feeling" of power would be different because the transmissions have different gear ratios - the 6spd has shorter gears so the engine will feel like it accelerates quicker, making it feel like it has more power

With proper tuning you should see no difference in MPG. I have tuned many K24s with just the normal 50VTC wheel with no issues, so i would say no need to pin. I dont think the adjustable exhaust cam gear would be worth the expense and hassle unless youre willing to get it properly degreed

I agree with nick. Unless you're using cams with more then 13.5mm of lift and 250+ duration @ 0.050 and trying to squeeze every bit of hp then the hassle of swapping everything wouldn't be worth it especially on a stock block where you're limited on rpms. @tuningbynick
4 жыл бұрын
I haven't had the chance to work with 4.5s yet - My guess is its mostly the throttle bodys fault tho. 80mm is great for power, butt its really big for a "street" car. A TB that big is really hard to drive on the street because it lets in so much air even with just the slightest bit of gas pedal - One thing that sometimes helps is adding a heavier spring to the TB to make it harder to open and to help it close faster to try and prevent the runaway
