Let's say for example in the 90s stuff like Mobb Deep, Wu Tang, DMX or Nas, while being hardcore, were actually mainstream and played on MTV. Their opposition were guys like Puffy and Co. . Nowadays the mainstream is really totally pop rap, sometimes at its worst. I mean what to expect when guys like Drake are the Kings. There isn't really a opposition in mainstream only worse versions of the same stuff.

@christopherjohnson577
3 жыл бұрын
The conceptualization has gotten better by album except with this one the concept is more so just about his life and his view on it. His past albums, the ones he put out after HKTS, both had their own point as well. Orpheus vs The Sirens was a less personal record and was more about why he made music and to show what he is attempting to guide people away from through his music, while Descendants of Cain is about the turmoil within the black community that even affected him, that's why he mentions almost shooting his own family. Plus how can the variation dissipate when these songs all sound so different compared to his past 3 projects
@noah509
3 жыл бұрын
@@christopherjohnson577 I definitely feel like I just don't like the concepts as much as I love HKTS. But I think its more about the production on that album was very unique, and since then he's stuck to much more traditional sounds. Again I've liked or loved every one of his albums since HKTS, I just haven't had my jaw drop from start to finish since then.
