DUDE! I'm so frikin excited to see this progress! This is gonna be so awesome to put all together and have work! You've done your research and it looks like it will :) im currently trying to find a good transmission and transfer case to attempt to throw one in my hardbody and keep it 4x4. So far your vids have been very well made and super informative. Keep up the great work man! 👍

Thank you man !!! There is a man on here in the youtube world that did a small block chevy in his hardbody and kept it 4x4. Im sure there is some info you could use from it as far as 4x4 goes. But again thanks for watching and keeping up with the build. Just a small town guy having a lil FUN and knowing you guys are here for the ride is a TRIP. New throw out bearing is in and metal for mounts is also here so new video coming soon!!!

Ok some of the info here is incorrect that 5 speed is one of two versions of the 5lm60 which came before the nv3500 you can tell by the type of throw out bearing it uses that transmission has a clutch fork so that means it’s an older type that came.before the nv3500. I have a lm7 5.3 and I had been trying to do exactly the same combination with no luck the clutch wouldn’t disengage and it wasn’t the pilot bearing so I tried everything to get this combination to work I extended the push rod on the slave with the longest throw out bearing still no luck. Then I tried to convert it to internal slave with custom retainer bolts. I got Better clutch pedal feel but still never disengaged I had to drill large holes in the bell housing to get lines in and out. So I sourced a newer internal slave nv3500 so now I know it’s newer by about and least 12 years. And I noticed that the bell housing is shallower so I’m hoping that a oem throw out bearing will do the job I need it to do

Thats the pilot shaft bushing thats that far out like that the flywheel is pretty thick and your able to let that bearing hang that far out past it how wide is that bearing i wish you had shown that as you were installing it so it was easier to understand cuz ive never seen a bearing that thick or that was even that big usually they are just small bushings that go inside the end of the crankshaft

I noticed that too. My 5.3 won't disengage clutch fully on nv3500 with 4.8 clutch & flywheel. Pilot bearing looks super far out but pushed all the way in. I'm going to try a slave cyl spacer

Enjoyed the video. Great info. I’m wondering if you would be able to provide a parts list of all of the parts used out of the 4.8? What arp bolts were used? I would appreciate any tips you might have as I am attempting the same setup.

I did this swap with a 5.3 to nv3500 and nv4500 and have bad ass clutch disengagement issues. Idk if I need a crank spacer or if my 2003 5.3 has a warped crank flange something rediculous

its a bitch working on this shit alone,i had a new 96 s10 in 96 haha then i swapped a LT1 engine in it and left my original 5 speed and it worked fine,it was fast as hell,i did swap the rear gears to 3.55 gears, but i was in my 20's so you know i ran it hard, never had one problem,so now im doing another swap,i have a 05 blazer,i got a 6.0 L96 from a 2011 chevy 2500 hd,and yep im using my 5 speed again,i looked all over for a blazer 2 door with a manual, hard to find,so anyways i have a racing fly wheel, its big, like 14 inches and a spec racing clutch,im just wondering how the starter is going to line up,i mean i guess ok,i had hell under my blazer with that 5 speed on a floor jack lifting it up to see if mine fit,the damn dowel that sticks out of the engine wouldnt go on,but i got it.now i get to wire the whole entire thing and every thing all by my damn self, what a bitch huh,oh well hopefully it will be cool when im done.i will see if you have a video of it running,
