Good god no wonder she was picked for the international cast!!

she seemed *MORE* nervous doing the album than she was at the Royal Variety show , but *THAT'S* probably because she had to do all the Complete Symphonic Recording in English.

Above the original broadway version, Hollywood film and any other rendition, I think Kaho Shimada is the best Epinone. The way her voice soars at the height of On My Own is absolutely stunning.

I saw Les Mis for the first time at the South Bank some years ago. I couldn't believe Marius chose Cossete over Eponine, especially 島田歌穂! Every time I watch the film I urge Marius to make the right choice. My wife thinks I'm mad, ”もうきめった!”

But Marius never had any feelings towards Eponine so it just make sense that he'll end up with Cosette.

I grew up on the international cast recording. She one-ups all of the other Eponines with those extra high notes on "pretending." Gets me every time.

Even more impressive, she knew little to no English, learning this phonetically!

It's not that impressive when you really think about it. When I was in music school the voice majors regularly gave recitals where they'd have to sing arias/songs in Italian, German, Latin or other languages. When I was in 2nd grade our music class had to sing an entire production in Spanish (most of us spoke zero Spanish). The reason it's not that hard is because music and memory are linked. It's much easier to memorize difficult words and concepts by learning to sing them. It's why we learn our alphabet by first learning to sing it.

@@takigan Right, but British or American opera singers who sing in European languages they don't speak do not necessarily learn those languages PHONETICALLY; they usually learn them by way of "whole language" (though not enough to be fluent). I think what the first poster was saying is that learning just the SOUNDS of the language and imbuing those sounds with meaning is very impressive.
Do you have the song "A little fall of rain"in Japanese. And another songs in this cast?? Please post it up

It's a musical called les miserables, this is a Japanese rendition of it from the official 1994 Japanese version of les mis, this is not specifically from an anime, although Les Miserables does have an anime version to it.
