The speed is absolutely insane!! What a legend I've wiped out on my foil on a wave with like 1/3 the power. It sounded like a branch snapping when my face hit the water and then my eyeballs hit the water and I saw stars and felt like I damn near knocked myself out.

@jasperfeldschuh3644

nah man skis have regained popularity. I personally am a snowboarder but I still think there are way more skiers in all disciplines, including in the park. And no, this will not overtake surfing. This is so much less beginner friendly so there will always only be a small group of devoted foilers out there. I would love to try it one day though. Do I think the sport will grow significantly?yes. But do I think it will come close to the popularity of surfing? no.
@johnmartinsen963
Жыл бұрын
@@jasperfeldschuh3644 The only reason snowboards got popular in the 90's was because it was so easy and particularly in certain snow conditions like windblown or dense. Thankfully the technology evolved in skis to make them more user friendly (like having a pair of snowboards) and better suited to all conditions. Foiling is growing fast, but not because it's more user friendly than surfing and I agree will never "take over" accept in marginal surf where it has some advantages. Kai has all the toys/tools and skills for a reason...every day counts!

@@tubethis777 I still love snowboarding in certain conditions, but independent suspension is nice for skating on the flats or sidestepping a traverse. I don't miss the long straight skis either, but I do miss the lack of crowds at resorts prior to the wave of snow surfers.

always glad to see reports of fun. I am curious about the skill level required, is this something for little Johnny under the Christmas tree, or best left to the highly skilled. I see this as a young man's game, because as an old body surfer without a selection of boards for varying conditions, I must use a different approach, of modifying my behavior to better fit in with the energy of nature to achieve my goals. outside of the water, such an approach also has rewards, although it often conflicts with the demands and desires of a modern world. However, once you know enough that the ocean grants you rare friendship, such a powerful friend changes everything, and you get glimpses into what some call the supernatural, but is really just a very gratifying natural state beyond what a person can live in full time.
