I wasnt able to pass the 7 mile. I started and got stuck there. I praid for rescue. I managed with all my willpower to slowly go back. For me it was too scary !!! Friends left me and went on. But besides that I loved the hike and the new group which I joined going back.

Hey @wilmut31 , so sorry to hear that. Hope your hike back out was ok and you were able to get back before sunset. Don't feel bad, I totally know the feeling. When I first started hiking, I was terrified of heights! It took me 5 years of trying to get used to high ledges to get to this point (in the video). Glad you were able to enjoy the trail in spite of your experience at Crawler's Ledge. Take care and stay safe/healthy!

This hike requires getting a permit, so it's not a heavily trafficked trail. Most of crawlers ledge is sort of wide enough to pass, but the section that isn't can be seen before you start (ie, you can see if someone is coming your way). The fisheye effect on the GoPro makes the sketchy section look way worse than it is. The view coming back is much more realistic. The first time we did this hike, we weren't even sure if it was crawlers ledge as it wasn't as scary as we thought it would be. Hope this helps!

I agree. It would probably be way more peaceful at night (for me personally) I have a fear of falling. But you can’t fear what you can’t see…or can you? Haha I once jumped off the stratosphere in Vegas they have an assisted free fall. I did it at night and it was horrific but amazing. The daytime would probably be way scarier. I had been drinking that whole night. There’s literally a sign that tells people if they’re too scared to jump, to “hit the Ozone layer bar and grab some ‘liquid courage” “ So that’s what I did! I was so smashed I didn’t even use my local discount. I still mourn the $20 I would’ve saved. Anyway the second I walked out on the plank, it was like the moment of no return. I just jumped I didn’t give myself time to think. But the second I started falling, I truly felt scared from my life and the screams were sucked out of me. It was over so fast but I sobered up within that second. It’s crazy to think that’s the last thing you’ll think about if you ever god forbid committed suicide. All I thought about was “I’m gonna die” I didn’t really think about anything else not my family not regret just “oh shit”

How much of this hike would you say are you having to be hyper-focused to not fall? Some comments say that you are like that most the hike. Some comments say the mud ledge after crawler's is the scariest part and most dangerous. I would love to hear your thoughts! We won the lottery for August but now I'm getting pretty nervous about it -Thanks :)

I would estimate that 95% or more of this hike is pretty safe. The hardest part of doing the hike is the constant elevation changes...basically going over multiple ridges in the mountainside. Make sure to prepare well prior and be fully rested about a week before doing it. Doing lots of training hikes with weight allows you to fully enjoy this hike and all it's beauty! Be safe and ENJOY!!!

Strongly suggest you train with the weight you are planning to carry. The hike is 11 miles one way, but you're going in and out of many valleys, so there is tons of steep incline and decline. Have fun and be safe. Btw, 46 is young! :) ...many years younger than me.

This is not a heavily traveled trail, as permits are require to hike it. Also, you can see most of Crawler's Ledge before you get on it, so you can just wait if you see someone is already there...and it's not as narrow as the GoPro wide angle (fisheye) makes it look. Hope this helps.
