@@Melvin_Garrett I hope you are rich so you get more tax cuts :) That was basically the only promise he managed to pull off in office. And he will do it again if he can. He hates Obama care and said he would destroy it and make it so much better, still after all this years he has not figured it out, he has a "concept", still. Also, when it comes to tariffs it will not improve the daily life for the people. There is a large consensus amongst the most prominent economist in the world that it does not benefit the prices, the opposite: Why? "Free trade (low tariffs) increases economic growth more than protectionist trade policy (high tariffs). Free trade allows producers with comparative advantage to get their products to the market cheaply and efficiently, and tariffs get in the way."

As a white man, Kamala Harris is the first mainstream national Democratic candidate who has spoken to me as a white man with respect since Obama. There are Democrats who do this. AOC does an amazing job talking to white men in my experience. But Pelosi? Schumer? Not really. Clinton? I had to pinch my nose to support her with how hostile her campaign space became to a guy like me. The fact that Harris selected a *working class* white guy instead of some slick lawyer? An incredible way to reach out to me. Because Walz has no bones about being white, or being a guy. Most of the elitist "intellectuals" of the Democratic party act like it's gross. And the only spaces young people are in? Like, terminally online liberal woman are still riding the anti-man attitude of the Clinton campaign. Kamala Harris has talked honestly and openly about her race and gender. And she has talked in a way that communicates that she doesn't hold my race or gender against me. The fact I feel more seen by the a multiracial woman than by any of the White folks at the big kids table? That's insane! And it's a central pillar of a road map for Democrats to regain faith with men. Kamala Harris shows that identity politics isn't about wearing an old white woman wearing Kente. It's about saying "this is my life, my story. This is why I believe we need to do better. And we can and should do that together." - a politics that feels genuinely inclusive, and not performatively so.

A constitutional amendment would require either a ⅔ supermajority in _both_ the House and Senate, or a request from ⅔ of state legislatures; _and_ would subsequently have to be ratified by ¾ of the states. I really doubt any of the 28 state legislatures under Republican control will be willing to ratify it. And I believe most if not all of the states that have not agreed to the National Popular Vote interstate compact are (at least partially) under Republican control, so that’s going to be difficult to get to the finish as well … although it’s still easier than a constitutional amendment.

I think the reason her response to the Springfield question was so successful and why she addressed it are much simpler than your analysis might suggest. It was a matter of empathy. Harris didn't take the bait on ANY personal attacks, yet condemned Trump heavily for things such as Springfield and The Central Park Five because she doesn't care what he says about HER, but is angry to see him putting others in harm's way. In contrast, everything is about ego for Trump. This is why he attacks Harris for her looks and intelligence rather than talking policy. Because the only policy that matters to Trump is the policy of popularity. This choice is boiling down to selfish VS Selfless, and ego vs compassion. And I wish the campagn could do a better job of drawing that contrast.

If women realize their electoral power, they could dominate this election - and every election. We are each alone with our ballot in the voting booth - who we vote for, is our personal decision - no one needs to know your private thoughts unless you tell them - and sometimes, for everyone's sake, a little white lie needs to be told. Vote your truth - Carpe Diem

Great discussion on the Pros and Cons of a 2nd debate. If they were to go for it, I think they need to do a Town Hall style with questions from voters. Don't just face Trump directly again. Kamala Harris is literally at her strongest when she has the chance to connect with people one on one. You will fall IN LOVE with her watching her visit small businesses. She could shine at a Town Hall style debate, and it gives her the chance to look much more Presidential than Trump.

The fact that she’s doing so well on the fly only proves that she is qualified and ready. The world doesn’t always telegraph what a president might have to confront with a sound mind and level head. Honestly Trump doesn’t have that ability!

Ref Rogan and Trump. Regardless of that criticism, he is solidly in Trump's camp. Before RFKJ dropped out, Rogan did a bit which sounded like an endorsement of RFKJ. Trump then bleated on Lies Social and Rogan immediately fell into line.

I am an older person and used to be a news junkie prior to Covid but after that, with the world so awful (politically) have just not been able to look at news. I dropped MSM a long time ago, NYT and CNN are absolutely no-nos for this liberal, they compromised long ago. I don't watch MSNBC either, because they also censor Palestine news. Most of the 20-30 people who are eligible to vote that I know well do not consume MSM or TV or even cable. Just sports and music and non-political online stuff. It's amazing what you can avoid if you don't let Google and social media rule your life.

I think one of the reasons Trump has been doing town halls instead of rallies is bc of the assassination attempts. The Secret Service has said that open areas are much more difficult to secure, and since the Butler incident happened in a battleground state, they don't want to take that risk. Swing states might have a lot more polarizing viewpoints so the risk of extreme people is higher. Plus, when he does do a rally they have to put bullet proof glass around him and Trump is probably throwing a tantrum saying that level of protection makes him look weak. I've also seen stories where people are afraid to go to his rallies now. So the Long Island rally is a way to have lower turnout, but get his message out there since it's in a noteworthy city.
