Masala vada
Ingredients:
1.Chana dal/ Shanigapappu- 1 & 1/2 cup
2.Oil- as required for frying
3.Ginger- 1 tbsp
4.Onion: 1 no big finely chopped
5.Corriander leaves: small cup finely chopped
6.Mint leaves: small cup finely chopped
7.Curry leaves- a few
8.Green chillies: 3 chillies
9.Red chillies: 2 chillies
10.Red chilly powder- 1 tsp
12.Turmeric powder- 1/2 tsp
13.Corriander powder- 1 tsp
14.Salt- as required
Instructions:
1.Wash chanadal several times until water runs clear.Soak the chanadal in water for 2 hrs drain off and set aside and make sure there is no water in the dal and do not over soak.
2.Next take some soaked chandal Sperately and grind the remaining chanadal coarsely( as shown in the video)
3.Next grind redchillies and ginger set aside.
4.Take a mixing bowl add corsely grinded chanadal mixture, redchilli ginger paste and lastly add chopped corriander, curryleves, mint leaves,onions, ginger and green chillies.
5.Mix all the ingredients to get a binding mixture and take a small portion, press down in your palm to form a ball
Place it on left palm, flatten it ( as shown in the video)
6.On a medium flame heat oil in a pan for deep frying gently drop the vada in the hot oiland fry vada on two sides until it turns gold and crisp.
Serve hot masala vada and enjoy.
