Kyokushin is just...fucking awesome man. Here these guys are doing semi-light sparring, but you could see how realistic their movements are for real situations. Of course, the minus is that they have no head punches, which put them in a bad position against boxers in K1 and Muay Thai, but the fact that a lot of them don’t even have HANDWRAPS. Holy shit, their wrists must be strong as oaks.

I've got a question, why didn't they block punch but only kicks ? Is this a speciality in Karate Kyokushin ?
@Momsspaghetti777
6 жыл бұрын
vlad vladm you can buy blocking punches is much harder than blocking kicks And these guys weren’t very fast or big to start with so the punches didn’t really hurt all that much, getting kicked with something that ways like 5x your arm hurts a LOT

Kyokushin used to allow head punches, but removed it from sparring for a couple of reasons. First was the image of karateka with missing teeth scaring away new students. Second was accumulation of bare punches with no headgear would cause excessive brain damage that was unnecessary for sparring. As for kicks, it's allowed since they usually wear pads underneath the gi and, and karateka tend to have excellent control of their kicks to prevent too much damage during sparring. It's also mandatory to practice high kicks to maintain your ability to do so.

yes you should block kicks and punches in kyokushine karate, first of all blocking kicks is much more important, second of all blocking punches is alot harder because they are alot faster, third kyokushin fighters have conditioned their bodies against punches, of course it does damage but very minimal, forth i think they try to condition their bodies in this video, as you can see they do light sparring without protection so their bones will get conditioned.

and as the person above said karateka fighters are very good at controling their kicks so if the kick is to powerful they can literally stop their own kick 1cm from the opponents head... haha

Why do the guys with gloves don’t give punches to the face if they have gloves on?
@groberti

Those are very, very think gloves they are using. It is mostly only there for their own safety, not the opponents. It protects your hand, skin a bit

I don't know who's that guy with that Blue with Bar Belt around 1 min 35, but as a Blue Belt (I got it in November 2020), I know what it's like to have to make your bones against higher opponents. However, it's part of the Kyokushin Way. Osu! :D

No need because they are trying to train their bodies to be able to take punches. You can't really block everything in a real scenario so it can come in handy

TheAlexmercer360 I hurt my hand (Still hurting now after several months) His kick was well executed and it was low enough for me to block it with my leg bent and up but my reflexes took over and I blocked it low with my hand instead. I learned not to do that since hahaha

marpa oh,another thing,you train kyokushin right?I want to train it too.But I heard they dont use head punches in the kumite,is it the same rule for sparring,if yes then dont you think that your alive training lacks some vital elements?How do you people make up for it?And if I choose to,can I spar full contact with head punches in the dojo?thnx in advance.
@Crisperdad
10 жыл бұрын
TheAlexmercer360 Yes the tournament style doesn't allow for head punches. However, the entire training in the dojo is based on real life situation. We learn to strike the head, the neck and other vital areas. We just won't do it to each other because of the obvious danger it poses. We mainly do it to dummies or pads. In tournament and sparring we are allowed kicks to the head though... There's an interesting video called "fight Quest Kyokushin" on youtube you might find useful! Check it out! :-)

If spinning back-kick is an easy technique, what's a hard technique? I've been able to do it since I was seven years old, but now in my 30s, I can appreciate how much nuance there is to the balance, position, timing, distance, etc I would definitely not classify it as easy, it's intermediate or advanced, just not ultra-hard either.
