Jaya Radhe!
Today we will visit a very exalted place in Vraja dham, it is called Man Sarovar. When visiting holy places, it is very important to have association with sadhus and serve them. The easiest way is to make some donation. The sadhus have dedicated their lives to Krsna, and I hope that someday I will also have the opportunity in my life to do bhajan - a serious prayer practice.
Man Sarovar is a lake full of water which is mixed with tears of Srimati Radharani. I offer my heart like a bouquet of flowers to the feet of our Swamini and pray to Her for the pure devotional service.
Srimati Radhika comes to this place when She is feeling a jealous anger at Krsna. This feeling is called Man, that is why this lake is called Man Sarovar. By material consciousness it’s impossible to understand what “man” means. “Man” is one of the stages in the development of prema, it’s one of the highest spiritual emotions, although outwardly it resembles a worldly feeling.
When Radharani sees that Krsna is giving attention to other gopis, she is filled with anger and resentment. She comes to this place so as not to see Krsna. The strength of Her emotions makes the trees in this kunja grow with very curved branches. However, in reality this man, jealous anger, is one of the manifestations of love for Krsna, and He really enjoys it. Krishna loves Radha and He begs Her for forgiveness, so that Their relationship even becomes sweeter.
Here is an example - if you make a form of an Indian vegetable called Karela (or bitter melon) and pour it with sugar syrup, then the frozen candy will look like a Karela, which taste is bitter, but the Karela-shaped form made out of sugar will be sweet. Similarly, man of Radharani looks like jealousy in this world, but when Krsna is tasting this mān of Srimati Radhika, He feels sweetness.
My beloved shiksha guru, Sripad Aindra prabhu, performed very deep bhajan and strictly followed the rules of chaturmasya. At the end of the month of Kartik he arranged a grand feast for several hundred of Vaisnavas. He loved Karela chips fried in mustard oil and sprinkled with black salt.
And Today I will show you how to cook it. When you arrive in Vrindavan, you will be able to buy karela and cook it. So, let's get started!
Wash karela and cut it obliquely in circles. It should be 2-3 mm thick.
Cut the potatoes into small cubes.
Pour mustard oil into the pan. It is very healthy and has a strong aroma. In Vrindavan you can buy it everywhere.
Now fry karela slices and potatoes until it’s all done. Put the fried vegetables in a colander so that the oil could drain. At the end, mix Karela with potatoes and add some black salt.
According to Ayurveda, the bitter taste cleanses the body and therefore dishes from karela are served as an Appetizer and also it improves digestion. Many devotees who have tried karela chips just fell in love with them! So when some people visit us, they ask us to cook some karela chips also.
I adore Vrindavan! When I came here for the first time, I’ve realized that I want to live here. I did not experience such a thing in any of the countries I had visited before! And they were over 20 countries.
Therefore I humbly request you - Please come to Vrindavan! Krishna and Srimati Radharani are waiting for you!
