Various reviewers of the book mention her numerous affairs/relationships w men, etc. I give her credit for at least being honest about these things instead of leaving them unmentioned. As far as the show, it was mentioned too abt the off screen tension between her n michael landon, which id heard before and has been circulating for a long time, something about a salary dispute. One things for sure she absolutely nailed the role of Ma and whatever strife existed between her n michael off screen never showed up one bit on screen. A great show all around too!

It was like she was a mother figure and that was all when you saw them together. They lacked chemistry, whereas Ralph Waite and Michael Learned had it. I think it is relevant. I never saw it with Karen and Michael and it always bothered me. Still a great show but Michael Landon was really sexy and it just was not projected with his appearances between him and Karen.
