The Knicks waiting would have been braindead. What would they have been waiting for? For the Timberwolves front office members to sober up and change their mind instead of blowing up their own franchise to help the Knicks compete? However fast they accepted that trade, it probably still wasn’t fast enough, and you’ll clearly need hindsight to see that.

If randle didn’t fit with the team’s new lineup it drastically reduces his value and takes away any leverage the knicks might have had because teams would know they were eager to move him. Plus there’s no way they were gonna extend him, randle would want too much money so he’d likely end up leaving for nothing. Randle is probably one of the most overrated “stars” in the league i dunno why people talk about him like he’s a top 10 player
@willstout5988
Күн бұрын
@@Other_Robots don’t disagree. I definitely think the Knicks are pretty scary with KAT, but this was kinda their all-in. If something doesn’t gel, or injuries happen, they don’t have nearly as much wiggle room to make a change. Windows are small and non guaranteed in this league though so I get why the Knicks are being so aggressive right now. You’re also right that unless Randle has a great season, his value is likely at its peak right now The wolves on the other hand… really not sure how that’s gonna pan out. Spacing seems like it’ll be a big problem. I’m a kings fan though so I don’t mind a contending team out west getting a little worse (I think?)

I like this more than you do, it gives the Wolves a lot of flexibility. They can go one big with Gobert or Reid, double bigs with Gobert + Randle or Reid, double offensive bigs with Randle + Reid, or small with Randle. Factor in the bench with Dillingham, Shannon, NAW, and Donte, that's a lot of lineup flexibility so that if one thing isn't working, you can pivot, assuming the team is healthy

I don’t think playing KAT at center is a good idea. He’s always played better at PF. Josh Hart should be coming off the bench, assuming all players are healthy, their starting lineup for the playoffs should be PG : Brunson SG : Bridges SF : OG PF KAT C : Robinson This gives them more size, more rebounding, better defense and better scoring. I think the Knicks were willing to part with Donte, because him taking the SG spot from Mikal left them with 3 SFs in Mikal, OG, and Hart

If KAT plays as well as he can, the Knicks will have the best record in the East (if he doesn't... well, they're still a fucking good team, but he needs to show up for them to neatly leapfrog the Celtics). Meanwhile with Rudy, the Wolves don't necessarily "need" KAT - the two played fine off each other, but I think Randle should work out ok in that lineup, and DiVincenzo (and Bates-Diop, but mostly Donte) gives the Wolves needed depth, and can spell their 37 year old point guard. I like having 2 bigs (as long as one can shoot) and think more highly of KAT than Timberwolves fans do. I do think this could work out really well for both teams; especially once Robinson is healthy again. He won't give you championship defense at the 5; but he will give you championship offense, and if you get the lead with KAT you can sub him out for Mitch.

Huge stretch to claim New York is the clear winner, i would see the Wolves slightly ahead. The Knicks are aggressively going all-in for exactly 2 seasons before this team has to be broken apart one way or the other, sure if you win a chip it is worth it, but does this move put the kniks above boston, i do not think so, but i understand that you have to grasp any potential Championship window in the NBA as aggressively as you can. KAT did not work in Minnesota on his new contract, Naz Reid does 85% what KAT does on offense, without being forced to play out of position like KAT would have been as long as Gobert is around and Reid is also a much much better defender than KAT. People seem to forget that last season was the first season in KATs life that he had to significantly play minutes at the 4 and it showed, he is simply a pure 5, he has some of the slowest feet in the league and that does not translate well to the 4. With this trade, the Wolves solve their salary problem and might actually still get significant value out of Randale, who i see as a 1 year rental in this deal. Basically the wolves secured their future before KATs ridiculous contract becomes completely untradable, while the Knicks go aggressively all-in.

News flash...everyone has something they don't do well...KAT is so much more of a better player then you make him out to be! When are you going to take into consideration coaching and organizations....didn't we learn anything from Andrew Wiggins? He went from a shit show and won a chip! Minnesota has only been decent the last couple of years...how were they before that? It's a damn shame the negativity is what runs the internet!

Question for everyone in the comment section. Would you trade Julius Randle for roll players like Dennis Schroder and Nick Claxton? Schroeder comes off the bench for Conley and Claxton comes off the bench for Reid.

I don’t think KAT is a good center when he played center in Minnesota he was complete ass especially on defense. The 4 is his real position but that just doesn’t work in modern basketball

kat is a much better defender than he ever gets credit for. and then you have the other part. i watched him drop 60 in 3 qrts. there might be 5 guys that can do that in the entire nba. and timberwolves losing to dallas probably had more to do with the fatigue after the nuggets series more than anything. they looked tired.

Knicks were finnaly all i want them to be, was happy to see them bet on the power of the friendship and now they brought KAT, don't care about logic and business, I freaking hate this trade.

I think you can only trade Randle in a one for one trade because of minnesota being in the 2nd apron. I don't think the league would allow multiple players for Randle. As far as trading for Kevin Durant they could only trade gobert bu I don't think that's within the 10% salary match.

Randle and Gobert can't stretch the floor it would be good to start Naz Reid and Randle in my opinon.

The way knicks are now structured are a hell of a matchup for boston because they have there own Porzingis in KAT they have 2 wings who can defend Tatum and Brown and they have a great point guard Brunson who can give 30 easily and even more. If they could have held on to Dante for the shooting guard position like boston have White then they gonna be a hell of a playoff series i think if everyone is healthy of course

Ive never seen a mid-range shot Randal took that LOOKED like it was gonna go in. Hes got that unnecessary hitch and fade away now and its even more ugly. To me he's this generations Antwon Walker.

Huge fan of the work you've been putting in lately, these longer vids are great. Good takes, will be interesting to see how KAT fits in NY, but bummed we didn't get to see the full Nova Knicks

I’m hoping the reason it hasn’t been officially announced is because there is more coming. NY waived a few guys, Mn did too.

Rusty i think you should try checking out guys like FlightMike, Sporting Logically and AM Hoops most of the time theyre hypotetical trades tend to be accurate of course details like Donte being included isnt as predicted but the general piece like Julius randle is there in their predictions

If a Hall of Famer like Al Horford who has a ton of playoff experience and is a cultural differencemaker can come off the bench, I think an underachieving playoff bum like Julius Randle can come off the bench too

Small win for Wolves finance and accounting team. Wolves went from being spooky to being financial spooked.

worth noting there’s a detroit first round pick involved. even if it conveys into seconds it’s still talent that can be infused into a team that doesn’t have a ton of their picks down the road. the new second apron has the potential to really impede team longevity and the wolves are smartly getting ahead of that with these moves
