Karwaan Book Club (KBC) is a platform for all readers to share their ideas, interact with fellow readers of Non-fiction, History, and Politics books. Every month we pick a new book. We spend the entire month reading it. Registration is on monthly basis. Karwaan Book Club in coming times will host some special book club members-only activities and book discussions.
Prof. Thapar talked about her recent book (KBC Book of the Month), Voices of Dissent: An Essay, she defined Dissent, explained the evolution of dissent and the presence of it throughout history in different forms.
Prof. Thapar started her career as a reader in Ancient Indian History at Kurukshetra University in 1961 and 1962 and held the same position at Delhi University between 1963 and 1970. Later, she worked as a Professor of Ancient Indian History at the Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi, where she is now Professor Emerita.
Prof. Thapar's major works are Aśoka and the Decline of the Mauryas, Ancient Indian Social History: Some Interpretations, Recent Perspectives of Early Indian History (editor), A History of India Volume One, and Early India: From the Origins to AD 1300. She is co-winner with Peter Brown of the Kluge Prize for the Study of Humanity for 2008 which comes with a US$1 million prize along with many other national and international recognitions.
