In the 3rd round, with an overall number of 91, in the 2006 NHL draft, Kaspars Daugavins was drafted by the Ottawa Senators. His experience in junior hockey in North America served as a vital stepping stone for his steps into professional hockey. After the 2006-2007 season of the Toronto St. Michael's Majors did not qualify for the playoffs, the Ottawa Senators assigned Daugavinas to the Binghamton Senators. Daugavins made his debut in the National Hockey League in the middle of January 2010 against the New York "Rangers" in the Madison Square Garden arena, spending 8:26 of the game time on the ice. In the 2010-2011 season, the Daugavins won the Calder Cup as part of the Binghamton "Senators.". Kaspars became the third Latvian hockey player to win the Calder Cup. In 23 Calder Cup games, the Daugavins scored ten goals, completed ten assists, and also had a positive efficiency coefficient of +8. The Latvian became the fourth-most productive hockey player in the Calder Cup, while the most productive was his teammate Ryan Potulny, who had 14 goals and 12 assists. In 2004, Raitis Ivanāns became the first representative of Latvia to lift the second most prestigious trophy in North American hockey. During the lockout of the 2012-13 NHL season, Kaspars played for the KHL club Riga "Dinamo.". After the lockout, Kaspar returned to the Ottawa Senators but was placed on the unprotected player list in late March, with the Boston Bruins taking over his contract in the process. After the NHL Finals, as part of Geneva "Servette," Daugavins became the first Latvian to win the Spengler Cup and was also included in the symbolic selection of the tournament. Daugavins have played in KHL Russian clubs since 2014/2015. 2018 season and during these years has represented such clubs as Moscow "Dinamo," Nizhny Novgorod "Torpedo," Moscow "Spartak," and Podolsk "Vityaz.". In the 2021-2022 season, Kaspars Daugavins played for the Swiss National League team SC Bern, and in the 2022-2023 season, he represented the German club "Roosters" of Iserlon. In the fall of 2023, he joined the Slovak Extraliga club Mihalovce "Dukla.".
