I just bought this reel in the 1000 size, and A buddy of mine bought the 3000 - we used them for the first time 10 days ago in rockport. For about $50 on Amazon you can’t go wrong. The only negative I experienced (we both did more than once) is if you make an occasional bad cast into the wind (think accidental moon shot), the slack line was somehow getting tangled in the mechanism under the spool. So we had to take the spool off and untangle from the washer assembly on the drive shaft (my term). Let the bad casting jokes begin (we are normally freshwater baitcaster types). I don’t get this with my other spinning reels. But like I said for the money it is a super smooth reel with a good drag system. I recommend.

I've enjoyed mine so far, and have yet to experience the entanglement you described. I'll keep an eye out, and try to avoid "bad casts." Thanks for sharing your experience!

*Like going from a bi-plane to a fighter jet! Easy to install, the sidescan works well>>>**allabout.wiki/fd12** and it's definitely a game changer when it comes to bottom fishing. While you can see schools of baitfish in your downscan screen, the sidescan shows you where they are relative to the boat's position, which is not necessarily straight down from the transducer. Showed a friend how it worked yesterday and while the regular sonar showed a huge ball of bait, the sidescan showed us that it was actually 20-30 feet off the starboard side of the boat.*

I'm glad you're getting good use from it. I want to try sturgeon fishing some time. With the 3000 reel, I haven't noticed the weight being a problem. Thanks for watching!

Interesting. No backing?
@TheGoodeLifeOutdoors

Nope, I don't use backing on my inshore reels - just braid straight on the spool. Not the main reason, but it does allow me to keep fishing if I happen to lose a chunk of line to a snag or large fish.

Hi, do you think i can put 300m of 0.18 braid on the 5000?
@TheGoodeLifeOutdoors
2 жыл бұрын
Looking at the specs, I believe that you could. The 5000 holds 200 meters of .040 braid, so I would imagine it would hold 300 meters of .018. I hope that helps.

@@TheGoodeLifeOutdoors do you think It could be used for shore jigging with 60g lures?
@TheGoodeLifeOutdoors

@@marcospalluto. I believe so. I have the 3000 model and have fought hard-fighting redfish and black drum here on the Texas coast. The heavier 5000 model should work well for heavy jigs and large fish.

I love this reel, and it's become my go-to! I have it paired with a 7' Shimano GLF Inshore rod, and it's an awesome combination for reds and trout. I wore out the reds with it in this video - kzitem.info/news/bejne/mX9ovJqDbpmDn44 Thanks for watching!

How much line get into the spool??
@TheGoodeLifeOutdoors

I don’t know exactly. It didn’t fill the spool completely so I’d guess close to 200 yards of 20# braid.
