I agree but what really inspired Kate to write this song? Was it the novel titled Wuthering Heights? Or was it the characters name? Name Kathy or Cathy is short for Catherine and, Kate is also short for Catherine
@zenithoclock1048

@@MysteryBoy-x4t It was the 1967 BBC adaptation of the book that inspired Kate to read the book. Kate discovered she shared her birthday with Emilie Bronte. Kate was 18 when she wrote the song on 5 March 1977.

I once used to think that she was singing the song about herself before I knew that there was a book about it. In the lyrics she mentions her name, Cathy.

This freaking song is pure, unadulterated GENIUS in every way possible! I was in grad school when Kate originally dropped it so I know how I missed it.... kind of. I discovered it two months ago due to a video about "Interview with the Vampire" and I cannot get over this song or that series!

For some reason KZitem's algorithm brought me here. Listened to song and did not think much of this at first. Red a few comments and realized this was something big. Went to Wikipedia and quickly red the plot of the book. Wow! Listen again (lyrics version) and discovered this gem. Stuff like these are timeless. Thanks KZitem!!. I agree Kate Bush is very talented and a genius!

First you wonder what they want.. Then you wonder what they sing and you dislike the whole meaning.. Then you grow and will someday find a similar situation.. Then you break and suffer.. Then you search the whole day for answers and find the old songs you disliked before.. And then, you realize what they said... And then, you understand the whole song and begin to "feel" it.. Poor Cathy, but she overcame it..
