(27 Sep 2019) ACTRESS KATE WALSH STEPS FORWARD AS MENOPAUSE ADVOCATE
"It is strange. Your body goes through a lot of changes and you don't really have control over it," said actress Kate Walsh, perhaps best known for "Grey's Anatomy" and "13 Reasons Why."
She was talking about menopause, a subject that still hasn't made it into mainstream culture, despite the fact that it affects millions of women every year in the U.S. alone.
For those who haven't heard or paid attention, September is Menopause Awareness Month and Walsh, who is about to turn 52, wants to raise awareness.
She recently partnered with supplement brand EQUELLE and is now a menopause advocate.
"I went through menopause early at 39 so, and I was in the height of work and again now to almost 12 years later I'm super busy. Twelve years later I am but I am in it as well still but I I feel like there's a lot more kind of information and stuff and tools at my disposal but I had to kind of stumble around in the dark and that's how it feels like you're in a room with no light switch, you're like, 'Who do I ask!'" she said.
With EQUELLE she has launched the "Live Hot, Stay Cool" campaign which aims to encourage dialogue.
"It would be great to take the stigma and any shame or embarrassment associated with it off of it and really talk about it," she said.
EQUELLE is a non-hormonal supplement meant to alleviate the frequency of hot flashes and muscle aches associated with menopause.
