Not a gymnastics expert by any means, but, I love this little girl because she has breathed new life into what I would call a dying sport! Used to watch gymnastics all of the time but got bored with the same-old, same-old posed routines done by itsy-bitsy stick-thin little girls with the same looks of boredom on their faces!! I mean no dis-respect to the elites because am aware of their grindingly hard work, how ever IMHO Katelin has changed the sport for ever! A breathe of fresh air!!!!

true, but what I've noticed is the newer "power-strength" type of gymnasts (Simone Biles, the "final five" etc.) that have sucked all of the grace and beauty out of routines, focusing instead on power, brute strength and speed...it's gotten ugly. Katelyn does indeed breathe new life and grace into the sport! I much prefer to watch female figure skaters for that reason, there is still incredible grace and beauty along with the power and speed...poetry in motion 😍💞😊

Yes Bud you are right, but, even figure skating is becoming jeopardized because it is becoming a vertical sport rather than the horizontal-gliding blade-grabbing ice sport it was intended to be. Now it’s all about jump, jump, jump and the grace and beauty is lost. For you and me the “purists” who fell in love with the “beautiful “ sports such as figure skating, gymnastics diving etc. time will weed-out the ugliness and the sport will return to their root of origin. In the meantime, the Katelins of the world bring heart smiles and joy to those of us that appreciate her happiness and joy in her funky choreography and amazing splits, booty-bounce and general joy in what happiness looks like. She should know---God knows she knew what the elite felt like! You go Katelin! You’re our woman!!!!!

@@oucutie1 you're so right...it's also changed the dynamics of another sport I've personally been heavily involved in- snowboarding! Now it's all about "spin to win" instead of clean style... fortunately we have a cute talented little ripper named Chloe Kim bringing back huge smooth style, and crushing it! 🏆💪🗻🏂We've really got some strong women in sports right now- The incredible Mikaela Shiffrin (alpine skier) has been absolutely breathtaking...totally dominating the World Cup! 🏆🗻💪⛷

I never get tired of watching her or this routine. For a long time women’s gymnastics had floor routines that were full of these cutesy flourishes and twirls. It’s good too see choreography and music that’s more commensurate with their age, they are not little girls. It’s OK to look like a young woman and have curves. I think the success she and her coach/choreographer have had will change both the appearance and the floor routines of these athletes.

Katelyn Ohashi is a fantastic person and gymnastics performer .... Because of her I have quickly learned an amazing amount about Women's Gymnastics, UCLA and their legendary Women's Gymnastics coaching staff and what a dedicated and extremely coherent team looks like ....One question though.....What do you have to do to get a front row seat at an event like this and get to sit in a plushy couch right off the floor ? 1:25 ......sweet .......
It was really exciting seeing them tie, I thought they would be able to pull off the win but I guess not. They did great though

Jamie Dantzscher from the early 2000's earned 28 10's during her NCAA career for UCLA. 5 of them on Floor during her Freshman year, 7 during her soph year, and 5 more during her Jr year. 7 isn't a lot.

@@3Axel1996 the early 2000s had a lot of 10s though, it's only been these two years where judges have handed out lots of tens, the judges now still hesitate to give out 10s unlike the early 2000s when there would be a lot of 198+ scores, 10s and 39.85+ AA scores.
