What people need to understand is that some of us never liked Bruce Jenner therefore we may not like Caitlyn either but it doesn't have to do with gender, it has to do with personality. Not liking her doesn't mean you're automatically transphobic-that's a separate issue.

Kathie Lee was just being honest. She and Frank used to go on vacations with Bruce and Kris including a Caribbean yacht trip together. I agree with them. It is a huge adjustment for anyone who grew up with "iconic" Bruce, and even more so for those who knew him. As much as people say they want to be accepting, it isn't just flipping a switch. The person you knew is gone...and yet still there, as someone else. They're themselves, but not. Supportive, yes. This is a disturbing comment. Let's please try to understand trans people before casting judgment? I read your comment and I'm distressed at your level of antipathy, but I do understand why you feel this way. We were all taught to be judgmental and be repulsed by LGBT people, but once I learned and once your hopefully realize that they are people! They love and just because they are LGBT doesn't mean they want to hurt anyone! Yes, Caitlyn isn't perfect and I'm not going to defend her actions in regards to the bad she's done, but trans people overall are not inner inherently evil or sick? Yes gender dysphoria is a disorder but it's one we shouldn't jest at. If you believe she's ill that's fine I won't judge you. But if she were mentally ill in another way (Downs syndrome, mental retardation) would you be saying the same thing? God bless you and as a Christian I love you and people like you no matter what. I just want you to try to understand. Thanks.

How did she not know something was going on? Bruce went to Gold’s Gym in Venice for years and we saw the transformation really begin in the mid 1990s. He came back one time and looked more feminine than ever after another surgical procedure. At that point several longtime members were commenting that it appeared that he was transitioning. There was no judgement at Gold’s as many of us had been going there for decades and it was a live and let live atmosphere.
@allme2547
4 жыл бұрын
I don't know anything about Gold's Gym or whatever... but he was part of the Hollywood/Celebrity jetset group & it's common for them to have cosmetic surgery, undergo procedures, & bend gender rules. Me as an example: I'm a guy (& have always wanted to be one) A few years ago I let my hair grow out really long. That, plus the fact that I was so skinny at the time caused ppl looking at me from a distance/certain angles to confuse me for a girl. I noticed guys would start approaching me & midway they'd change expressions & then quickly change directions! After that happened a few times I knew I had to cut my hair. When I showed up for class on Monday a few of the girls said they were going to cry because I cut my "pretty long hair" ... (which confirmed that I made the right decision). I don't think we can jump to the conclusion that Bruce Jenner was obviously trans. I believe she was being genuine with what she said

A big problem is that a lot of Transsexual people misrepresent themselves . There is so much misunderstanding surrounding this condition that I feel that even the Transsexual people are not helping. For instance if a transsexual woman says she was born male or born a boy. This is a terrible misrepresentation and does not help anyone. Correctly a transsexual woman was born precisely that . We are all individuals and should respect each other for the common humanity we all share but that can be improved upon by the Transgender people starting to represent themselves in a better way. A lot has been done by Caitlyn Jenner in coming out but from the comments I find on KZitem and other sites it would appear that there is a way to go. Most governments now have an equality law that protects all of its citizens but so many people do not understand their responsibilities under these laws. It should be taught in schools although I am aware that some schools already include basic factual in formation in their life classes.

Changing your name your pronoun your hair will never give you the womb from which the word woman is derived from. You can not simple become a woman we are far more magical than that.
@CuppySyrup
5 жыл бұрын
That's actually a complete misconception, "Womb" is actually from the Old English word wambe meaning "stomach" (modern German retains the colloquial term "Wampe" from Middle High German for "potbelly"). So no , the word woman has nothing to do with the word womb. ''The spelling of "woman" in English has progressed over the past millennium from wīfmann to wīmmann to wumman, and finally, the modern spelling woman. In Old English, wīfmann meant "female human", whereas wēr meant "male human". Mann or monn had a gender-neutral meaning of "human", corresponding to Modern English "person" or "someone"; however, subsequent to the Norman Conquest, man began to be used more in reference to "male human", and by the late 13th century had begun to eclipse usage of the older term wēr. The medial labial consonants f and m in wīfmann coalesced into the modern form "woman", while the initial element wīf, which meant "female", underwent semantic narrowing to the sense of a married woman ("wife").''

There is a lesson to be learned from this video that many people complaining that this era is too “PC” need to learn. If you have any grasp of the english language, mixed in with something beating in your chest, you can eloquently express confusion or disagreement without disrespecting another being.

If I were Kathie, I could not have in good conscience referred to Bruce Jenner with a female pronoun, especially on national television. That's just buying into and giving further credibility to the LBGTQ agenda lies. I can understand that she most likely would've experienced negative repercussions from the executive producers/directors at NBC, had she not appeared to support their chosen political stance; but she compromised her own faith right here. "God help us," indeed.

Love Kathy-Lee & Hoda. And and much as I respect Caitlyn & who she is now. I can understand what KL was referring to, that'll take some time to get to know "her". And that's cool. That's just how it is. Caitlyn is on a new path, so I know I'll celebrate her life as she discovers it, and perhaps help us understand more about transgender identity.

+J. Grao Hey, thx. I really do think it's as simple as according someone respect. If we're challenged by something that is especially foreign or unusual to us, well then, we're better off to face it & learn more about it. But it seems some would rather post thoughtless & hateful comments than educate themselves. Anyway, you have a great day.

+J. Grao As odd as it may sound, I suspect that some people deal with what confuses, dumbfounds, threatens (in *their* minds) intimidates, even frightens them with nervous laughter, giggling, laughing and even joking, and they very typically mean no harm whatsoever. Most have heard religious teachings about it, never expected to encounter what they see, are trying to wrap their minds about it, and how THEY feel, separate from what they were taught, and how to address encountering it as they feel, as kindly as they can address and eventually address it lovingly IF others don't pre judge, presume and react to stereotypes.

+Tasos I agree we all react to things differently. However, I'm heavily inclined that people doing the former are not thinking things out as well as they should. Posting crass jokes is disrespectful but hey if you want to do so, be my guest I'm not here to parent you. A lot of the people here are trolling and who knows they could actually support trans people. But honestly we're all a bit crazy online so I can forgive people that way. But the hate I've seen in real life is shocking, and I hope we can live in a world that promotes acceptance and reduces marginalization.

+J. Grao ● Thank you or your thoughtful words. An unfortunate thing, actually maybe a fortunate thing about change is it often takes time, and ideally with time comes perspective. Emotions cool, facts are dispassionately examined and considered, and out comes cool reason. In regard to trolls, attention is their oxygen. Starve them, choke them out by NOT offering them attention, or validation trolls opinions by engaging with trolls. Also take care to not identify, regard or treat parties who may post their dissenting view as trolls. My concern is based in today's climate in which almost anyone who voices their dissenting opinion is too often is subjected to INtolerance. A dynamic arises in which those who sought tolerance became intolerant, resentment builds, conflict arises and trolls are bred.

If it empowered her and she's happier, I support her transition. What I DON'T support is the negative talk about Kris, a woman she was married to as Bruce for many years and fathered two kids with. That is dirty pool. To be honest, sure, but to be so critical is hurtful unnecessarily. It hurt Kris a lot and why wouldn't it? She probably doesn't know what the truth was, meaning "Did this guy ever love me? Was it even a real marriage?" etc.

God works in mysterious ways. What better person to have come out as trans than an iconic male olympian. I will mention, I don't think it's healthy for anyone to replace hormones and body parts, etc. But that goes for anyone, including straight cis people. It's never healthy. So I also have nothing against it, if that's what people want to do with their body. But trans people in ancient times didn't reject their bodies when their societies honored and revered them. Which was often the case. Says a lot with what we are currently dealing with.

+Jay Walker "I would sum it up to some internalized homophobia. A gay person can't simply be identified by a set of stereotypical traits." I take it then you haven't watched amateur men's figure skater Adam Rippon's televised interviews before/during/after his trip to PyeongChang last month. He acts so horribly effeminate, it's cringeworthy-his voice and nearly all his mannerisms, it's embarrassing that any man would take hormones in order to intentionally reject his God-given masculinity this way. It just lends credence to the "limp-wristed" stereotype. And NBC can't get enough of this guy. From the amount of Olympic coverage he's been given, along with the talk shows and feature stories, etcetera, you'd think he'd actually won the gold medal in the men's singles main event or something, instead of placing 10th.
