She is a true diva indeed! I had the pleasure of seeing her in concert at Carnegie Hall several years ago. She is worth every cent. Unfornately, I arrived a half hour late, but she gave a 30 minute encore! She appreciates her fans. I would go to China to see her!

Extremely moving. Kathleen doesn't only look exquisitely beautiful but her voice matches her physical beauty of course.

Oh wow! I can't believe that I found some footage of me. Do you know how long I was looking for some footage. Now I just need everything from the Christmas Tree lighting with Tony Bennett and footage with the great Lena Horne.

It's a pity about the Boys Choir of Harlem. The group had the power to do such good for the children of the area and to produce such a lovely sound, as evidenced here. Wonderful performance all around.

I love Ms. Battle, but it is the choir that moves me to tears. Something about the unison of voices surrendering to hope that will summon the tear ducts to work overtime.

I think I would rather listen to Kathleen sing than anyone else I can think of, her voice is so sweete, pure, and chrystaline! Her stage presence is warm and natural as well! What an angel! I haven't seen her live for 10 years or more, what an experience.

Kathleen Battle - Rise Up Shepherd - Boys Chior of Harlem Uploaded on May 28, 2007 This is the most beautiful performance I have ever seen. I love Kathleen. And the choir is good too. Boys Choir of Harlem. Kathleen, can I marry you? She also sings Swing Low Sweet Chariot. APR 11, 2014

There are other great sopranos out there, but Kathleen Battle alway had a very special place in my heart. She's one of the few singers who can sing a Christmas carol and bring out genuine emotions, as if you'd listen to it for the very first time.

To Jurneyman2, The singer you saw is the great Marian Anderson. She was a world class Black American classical singer when America was still mired in racial discrimination. The incident occurred in the 1930s when she was denied the use of Constitution Hall. Mrs. Roosevelt responded by suggesting a concert at the Lincoln Memorial which drew a huge crowd. There are many excellent recordings on cd. I especially love her recordings of "Deep River" and "My Lord, What A Morning!".

OPS! I meant to write: "Christmas in The Heart" NOT "Christmas in The Heat" But as i am a flaming Irish American dissident who has been to the so called 'holy land' 7 times since 2005-i think NO mistake @ all.

On Thanksgiving Day 2009, this little one began listening and singing along with Bob Dylan's "Christmas in The Heat" CD daily. On CHRISTmas Day 2009, all this little one has wanted to play/listen and sing to is Kathleen BATTLE's CD: "A Christmas Celebration" which features the Harlem Boy's Choir. With great GRATITUDE-which is the highest expression of LOVE-this little one THANKS 'footcheck' for posting this! xoxe, WeAreWideAwake-which is a dot-organism!

To Jurneyman2, I forgot to mention that Marian Anderson possessed a remarkable contralto voice. She also had the amazing ability to transmit deep feeling & emotion thru her singing. You can probably find some examples of her singing on this site.
