Continuing with my horribly shot, terribly narrated and poorly edited video series (now with dying camera action!) I present to you the new Kato N scale ALC42 being converted to ESU LokSound.
The model is a Kato N scale ALC-42 charger. These should be arriving at Kato USA in January. The one I have is an earlybird sample (basically, a few are flown in for dealers to use as sales tools while the rest arrive via ocean shipping container)
Used for this install is an ESU LokSound V5 'Kato USA' board, a 15x8 speaker and 3d printed housing, a bit of scrap wire and a scrap section of lightboard for the interior lighting.
The install is fairly straight forward. The shell is on there tight I will add.
A nice touch on this model is Kato finally realized that a space to mount a speaker is a good thing. So...no machining needed for anyone who wants to do it themselves and doesn't have a mill or want to Dremel warrior it.
Since Kato has opted to offer sound units with brand S in their Kobo line (ack), Lombard Hobbies and I opted to build up a fairly large batch of these when they arrive with ESU for those individuals who prefer that flavor of decoder type. :)
Once Lombard's are complete, for those not wanting to do the install themselves, I will be doing individual installs also. It should fall in line price wise with just about every other install I offer.
