How do you call it in your family? Kattimeri or Tsippopita?
I grew up watching my grandma making Kattimeri for all kind of occasions.
It is a Cypriot dessert that has been surviving from one generation to another. The ingredients are simple and humble but yet the result is so tasty. It makes the best dessert for a coffee break! I pair it with my Cypriot coffee, my favorite book and good company!
Tsippa as it is called in Cypriot, refers to milk skin. In old times nothing was wasted! So the milk skin was used for all kind of foods. In some villages a special preparation was done to transform it to butter. Tsippopita actually means, milk skin pie! Tsippa, gives a unique taste to this dessert. But if you cannot find it where you live, you can also use butter or olive oil.
I will share the recipe of the Kattimeri I made in this video to my Instagram account. So if you are interested you can check it out!
