I’m in love with my K500 every single day since from day 1 I bought 🥰 I’m only an early intermediate player at the moment in early 30s but I’m looking forward very much to continuing to grow musically playing on this wonderful piano that will be with me for many more years!

I bought an ST-1 a couple of months ago, and you are on the money with your review. If you are in the market for a K200/300, don't overlook this model.

Thanks for your comment! Yes agreed, the ST-1 is spectacular and definitely shouldn't be overlooked when looking at Kawai uprights. I'd go as far to say it's my favorite institutional upright piano I've ever played on! -Max

Great! Glad this was helpful. We'll be reshooting this at some point, but in the meantime, we heartily recommend looking at a variety of pianos and keeping an open mind while shopping, so videos like this are a blast to shoot.

A very friendly, informative presentation of a good range of Kawai upright pianos. If I may offer some advice, I would suggest that you have the pianos tuned before this kind of demonstration. New pianos go out of tune very quickly and that affects the tone adversely resulting in a twangy sound. If you present fewer pianos it may be easier to get them tuned. Good luck. Robert.

Yeah, this one was shot pretty quickly when quarantine first happened. We're planning on re-shooting this, so will definitely have everything tuned.

Yeah, we'll have to remake this video eventually. We shot these tour videos shortly after the pandemic first hit. So we couldn't get our video person in, and we didn't really have equipment at the time either. But we figured we needed to do something since our store was gonna be closed for a while. Anyway, glad it was still helpful for you. Thanks for watching!

You mentioned that the 300 is made in Japan but every 300 I saw were also made in Indonesia...

Hi Raphael, I've done a bit of digging into this and indeed some of the K300s are assembled in Indonesia (They will say Made in Indonesia on the outside of the piano and Made in Japan on the action). Fully Japanese made K300s are labelled "Made in Japan" under the lid. Whether or not the K300s available near you are made in Indonesia or Japan varies based on the country they've been sold into. For the US market, all K-300s have always been made in Japan. -Max

My Kawai Novus 5S keys are really slippery. Are the keys on the K500 slippery as well?

Hello there. I got myself a Kawai K300 a few years ago. After checking the serial number, I've found out that it was built in Indonesia. Is there a big difference in sound quality (or the soundboard) when comparing a Japanese-made K300 and an Indonesian one? Thanks!
@familypianoco
3 жыл бұрын
As far as I know, Kawai has never made K300s out of Indonesia or at least, 100% of the K300s imported into the US were built in Japan. Indonesian-built acoustic pianos start with an F. In terms of quality, there are very few problems that we need to fix on either. There have been very few models that have been produced in both countries - one recent example was the GL-20 grand piano, switched from Japan to Indonesia, to handle supply chain issues. We recently had a customer choose an Indonesian GL-20, at a higher price, over an older Japanese-built GL-20 (although still technically "new"), because he preferred the clean, clear, well-defined yet full & rich sound. I tend to prefer the Japanese-built models, but they also tend to be more premium in general. I hope this helps. If you have further questions, you can feel free to email me a picture of the serial and I'll do some sleuthing. Brendan@familypiano.com. Thanks!

@@1976gerbel In the US all K300s are also built in Japan. In other regions the K400 and up are Japan built, but the K300 is made in the Indonesian facility.

Haha no need to apologize -- you're totally right. We bust out the nice mics for our "bigger budget" videos now. This was done on the fly, and we'll probably remake them eventually. Hope some of the information is still useful. Nice recordings on your videos, by the way. Your ES110 sounds great. Subscribed. (:
