I have all the VI Labs sample sets including Ravenscroft 275VI which I really like but my go-to sample set of choice continues to be the Synthogy Ivory II - American Concert D. I don't know why that one stands out above the rest but it does and the dynamic range is just killer from PPP to FFF. The upper range is sparkling clean but the killer bass range is earth shattering and I do not yet have the sub-woofer speaker cabinet. Just a pair of Behringer B3031A studio monitors and the sound is out of this world. I too have the Kawai VPC1 and deeply in love with it.

Beautiful. Have you tried the MP11? Trying to decide between the MP11 and the VPC1. I played a Kawai piano with the GF feel (same as the MP11) next to one of the Kauai 7' acoustic grands. The acoustic feel felt slightly lighter than the digital piano with the GF feel. This led me to believe the VPC1 might feel slightly heavier than the MP11 (GF feel) due to the shorter wood keys on the VPC1 vs. the MP11, therefore less like the feel of the acoustic. Would love your input.

Wonderful. If you don't mind me asking, are you a musician by training or a professional instrumentalist? I aspire to play as you do and wonder how many years Technic and Practice does it take to get to the level where one can respectfully embark on something like this piece? I've just recently discovered the VPC-1 & Piano Tec 5 combo....incredible. I've purchased PT5 Stage and am just about to order my new VPC1. This is an upgrade from a $300 Yamaha entry level keyboard. Dominic Esteban Hi Dominic, thank you very much again for your comment and I'm glad to be to your liking, I'm a musician and training regarding this work because you need years of study for proper assimilation, not to interpret technically that too although not a piece especially difficult but the compression level of the work, let alone stylistic level if you need experience and have played before many other things from different romantic composers such as is the case at hand. Regarding your purchase VPC1 congratulations, it's the best keyboard controller on the market today, I dream of a VPC2 but Kawai is silent, the VPC1 has an impressive keyboard especially to qualify properly due to the weight of its key transmits touch and warmth of an acoustic and already want many acoustic and purists will forgive me (I also am) have a pianistic sensation as transmitting the VPC1. I highly recommend you buy the Galaxy Vintage D recommend for me is the best library in the market and is no doubt a must buy with the VPC1. Regards.

Lo has probado tú?

Hola Pedro, realmente admirable.
@PedroJSkywalker

However without an interface playing live with studio monitors (JBL LSR 308) the sound of the Vintage D is soooo poor.

Pedro, I saw your comment about the overweight of the keys, and this is terrible. I´m about to purchase a new controller just because my current electronic piano is killing my arms and fingers, it´s a Yamaha P140, it´s too stiff, so I get lazy to play technicaly difficult pieces on it. It´s good to plat light pieces. I could die if I play Chopin´s polonaise Op 53 on it. Recently I tested Roland RD800, but I found too light, kind of semiweighted action. The best action for me was the RolandA90, but mine is broken now, too old, and Roland FP-8, which I don´t have anymore. I´m kind of lost in choosing a good piano action for using my VST, as I am mostly a pianist. I want something that is light, but at the same time, have that hammer action we are used on a real grand piano. What do you suggest ?
@PedroJSkywalker
Well I strongly advise you to try the kaway mp11, it is the one I use now and I am very satisfied, I am sure you will be pleased by the excellence of your keyboard, for the purists of the piano like us the important thing is the key and secondly the sound , I put the second sound because the libraries that currently exist in the market fully satisfy any pianistica ambition in terms of sound with which the only physical state that we are going to have and that can not replace any bookstore for many that we prove is Key and the one of the kawai mp11 is amazingly similar to a grand piano from there that advises you to look for some store that has it and you can move to try it, you will buy it safe because it has no rival. The library that for my form a perfect communion with the kawai mp11 is the Galaxy Vintage D, is for years my favorite and must have it obligatorily. I hope I could help you and run to play a Kawai MP11.
@DihelsonMendonca
PedroJSkywalker Thank you, Pedro. Although I live on a small town in Brazil, I´ll try to get my hands on a Kawai MP11. I read very good things about it too. I need a piano which has hard keys ( wood ), but a light touch and speedy one, because I need the keys to be very fast in response so I can play fast passages and repertoire like La Campanella without any stress. On my current Yamaha P140, it´s keys are too lazy, when I try the repetition, I can´t get fast enough, and the keys are very stiff, hard, a friend of mine got sickness on his arms because of that mechanics. Me too. I got a desease on my arms and the physician told me that was the effort. This never happened with my old acoustic piano, which is way more fast and light in touch. I still consider the mechanics the most important thing today, because we have all those good libraries. Coincidently, I mostly use Galaxy Vintage D, as I think it´s one of the best. I discovered in recent days those Keyscape pianos and they are incredible too. There´s another one you should try: Synthogy American D ( Ivory II ) it´s unbeliable. So, with all these good sounds, we need only a good mechanics, not even a sound from them, so, even a mute controller would serve to the purpose. I can´t understand the industry: Some 30 years ago, we had the Yamaha KX88 which had a decent mechanics, weighted action, and Roland A90 which qs superb, but I tested today´s many pianos, and I didn´t like almost noone. They are weak, sluggish in response. A friend of mine played Chopin´s Polonaise Militar on an Yamaha piano and a key broke. Thank you so much for your comment.

I bought the VPC 1 for my daughter to learn on, using in combination with pianomarvel.com. I think it is too heavy. My neighbour's upright Yamaha feels so nice and light by comparison. Have you tried the new Roland RD-2000? It has a new action - the PHA-50 that might suit you better. It is expensive though.

Hola Pedro, I see that you have both the VPC1 and MP11. I am currently deciding on purchasing the VPC1 or the MP11 to use as a midi controller for virtual instruments like Galaxy Vintage D and Pianoteq. The advantage to the VPC1 is that there are custom manufacturer-approved velocity touch curves. Do you think this makes the VPC1 a better VST controller than the MP11 even though the MP11 has longer and therefore lighter keys? Thanks in advance.

Hello, thank you very much for your comment, the software I use is the Galaxy Vintage D for me still the best and have tried many. Greetings.

Have you found Galaxy to be better than Ravenscroft 275? Just curious.

Beautiful playing BTW. I am strongly considering getting a Kawai VPC1 to supplement my grand. It sounds great.

Hervin Balfour Thanks for your comment, Kawai VPC1 is the best keyboard controller today for piano purists regards

PedroJSkywalker I recommend you check out some of the videos here on YT of that software on the Kawai. I think you'll be impressed. Also Ravenscroft does a modification of the Kawai controller to make it feel like an actual Ravenscroft 275. I have decided I'm going to purchase one this week. I'm convinced!

HI ! great video indeed. I have a weird question. When you play this instrument do you miss anything of a real piano ? could you live just with this one ? is it able to transmit the same emotion of playing a real piano ? thank you very much indeed. Regards, gino

Unfortunately, no machine can can give you what an acoustic piano wood (pun intended). The ability to feel the strings vibrating through the keys and actually feel the string resonance rather than just hear it, is otherworldly! Sound-wise, we're pretty close, though. :)

@@giorgosboultadakis4592 of course but often you have to practice without making noise My neighbors would not bear my practicing

@@gino3286 If that's your case, then an electric piano would definitely do the job! I myself, have a Yamaha CLP-635 and I'm more than happy with it, although I could have bought an acoustic one since I don't have any close neighbors.

@@giorgosboultadakis4592 hi Giorgos yes this is the case unfortunately i am quite aware that nothing compares with a nice acoustic piano Bu what i am looking for is a keyboard piano teacher's approved it's a mechanical thing more than electronic The feeling you get when stroking the keys I am afraid i have to go to a shop and try first hand

Probably just what sample you're using, but I think these VPC1 videos sound better with more dynamics than your MP11 ones.
