Very good Kevin. Saved him $500. I know he'll show his appreciation.

I have a 1997 jet ski 900stx that has been seating at garage for 9 years. What do I need to do to start it back on before damaging anything? Thank you much.

Spray oil in the cylinders before you start it. Seafoam makes a good spray although you could spray a fuel oil mixture as well. Just know that you probably have bad orings in the fuel system or bad pickup tubes that go into the tank, Especially if you left fuel in the tank. The crankshaft seals could also be bad Generally the entire fuel system has to be cleaned when they sit that long and the carbs have to be rebuilt.

I've noticed in some of your videos that you use oetiker clamps. What's the benefit of them over the regular(though a pain in the A at times) hose clamps?

You have to use oetiker clamps for the oil lines. 6-7 mm size. They are stainless steel so they wont rust, but basically the oetiker clamp is replacing tywraps which cause piston failure when the oil line pops off.

@@ShadetreeJetski cool... Yeah...I wouldn't use tywraps on something so critical..... I was just curious.....the oetiker clamps seem less cumbersome than the normal hose clamps and look like they do a better clamping job also... Though I've never used them...but I will be using them soon on a project that I just got. Thanks for the info!
