When I finished today, and was getting out of the water, a passer by said to me " you must really love fishing"...yup, I do🤗

bought it exactly for small bass ponds & maybe Shatsa on calm days, Im excited for mine to arrive. Really have been doing research on standing form kayaks for throwing bigger baits felt this was the move.

Catching up on some of your vids. Scenery looks amazing. I looked at the recon 120 for my next yak, but have decided on the radar 115 as I want both helix drive and pedal steer for trolling motor. BTW, was this fishing trip a success? What did you catch

Jeff Little, the Torqeedo guy, put dual steering on a Recon, foot steer for a motor and hand steer for the pedals. He made a rudder that fit his motor mount... I have an idea of making such a thing using a second trolling motor clamp and a flat bladed paddle.

I didn't catch anything, but I'm targeting rainbow right now, the bigger "hold overs" are biting.

So, I had a Ride 115 and was, therefore, interested in the Radar. The thing that was the eliminating factor was the small front hatch and smallish tank well. There is nowhere to put a battery. It would be a tough platform for all but a Bixpy. That being said, if thats the yak you want you might consider Bixby, I think its a great option for a Radar!

@@TahoeYakFisher the radar 135 has the oval hatch and I really considered it but I am 5'-6" and it's it's long yak. I plan on using 2 smaller batteries and run them in series to power my 55lb motor. Being shorter allows me some room for pedals and steering. I made a rudder from 1/4" ABS plastic I clamped to the motor and shaft on my current yak. It works great for dual purpose. I'll send pics if you have an email to share.

Perhaps you have already mentioned this, but did you register your yak since you motorized it?

Not yet. I don't/won't go in DMV until I get vaccinated, crossing my fingers in the meantime 🤞

@@TahoeYakFisher you will probably be fine on Tahoe. I got hassled on my very first outing, but that was at Frenchmans. I hadn't done the proper research, and had no idea i needed to register my shit after i fitted the motor. If i wanted to worry about registration i would have got an actual boat. I have since sold the motorized yak, and have a Recon HD in route.

Ya know, it works... there are some issues. If I have the dial(potentiometer) turned up too far and turn on the fwd/rev switch from a dead stop it bends the prop pin pretty easily. The potentiometer has a detent for off and I have to train myself to stay away from the fwd/rev switch. I tried to use a piece of drill bit for the prop pin thinking it wouldn't bend and it snapped in two first day.
