Hey Bro we talked to you as you passed by right before you started filming this day lol. I was with my wife & kid in the lil 12ft Jon Boat. Stoked to come across your channel and all the info & footage you’re sharing🙌🏾

Hey Chris, thanks for watching and commenting. I remember you, your wife and your kid. Hope you guys caught some fishes that day. Not sure what's going on with the weather but that day was pretty hot as I had to shed my long sleeve fleece. We're still in summer and there was a sea storm going on outside the harbor after 11am that day!

First time watching your videos. I think you have a knack for this. New subscriber! Very informative re: kayaking knowledge of navigation in our local waters. I’m considering getting a setup like yours. I could tell that your kayak was pretty stable in the rough waters you videoed. I also was impressed with the fact that you were out on the water for so long and the battery lasted all day long. I think you should go out to Palos Verde kelp beds for some bass and opal eye fishing. Tomorrow 😅

Welcome aboard! Oh I've been watching some of the guys catching White Seabass out of Palos Verde in the past few weeks and WSB are plentiful there. I have also been researching on Google Earth on the closest kayak launch spots to get to the Palos Verde kelp beds. Perhaps another kayaker will beat me to this but I will share the knowledge if I find a way to get my kayak in Palos Verde at the hot spots. Thanks for watching, subbing, and commenting.

Bro just my 2 cents but your giving them video evidence of you fishing and taking video! just sayin..haha love the videos i live next to HB harbor your video has helped me immensely so that when I get my Hobie pro angler I will motorize additional to the paddle drive as well to get more speed. That will be super convenient for me to fish the oil rigs and Izors. And i willl go from the spot you launch so I do not have to pay for the parking. Great info here and im glad you made it out of san clemente I was really worried for you when i watched that video. Tight lines

Thanks for your genuine concern bro. I really appreciate. The purpose of the video is to inform others of the rules/regulations since I had some viewers that had questions from my previous launch out of HB Harbor. My vids are not meant to be rebellious and break laws. I'm sure if somehow I grow big enough for this video to reach the U.S. Navy commanding officer, he will understand I did not purposely record and take photos of the actual Navy base. My videos are meant to be informational not hey look at me I'm breaking the law. I took videos of the sign of the rules in Anaheim Bay. Anaheim Bay is actually 200 ft away from the sign around the corner on the right. There's also a guard tower next to the sign which I should have mentioned in the video. If I had really broken any of the laws that day, they would have brought me in for questioning and checked my GoPro footage for espionage.

@@playdirty714 yeah bro I feel yah. I feel like us ocean kayaker are a different breed pushing boundaries already adventurous and rebellious in a good way. It was meant more of bro please don't let the man stick it to you! Rather than trying to scold or correct you. The man is always trying to stick it to us and take away our freedoms and tax us to death. It just wouldn't surprise me if fish and game look through these videos to see who the can tax some more. Anyhow keep up the fun adventurous vids good work out there. I do real good out there jigging on a drift on platform Emmy like sculpin spottys,sand bass, sheephead ,makeral sardines and such. Anyway looking forward to next vid. Tight lines buddy

you can launch at the kite surf site on the long beach habor side, surf is minimal, a much shorter trip
@playdirty714

Thanks brother. Yes you are correct and I should try it; however, the kite surf site is a further drive for me than Trinidad Park in Huntington Harbor. I have also launched my kayak from Alamitos Bay at the public docks behind Ballast Point as well. It's a shorter trip to the wall but problem is the parking lot is a bit far from the dock and I'd have to drag my kayak a bit of a distance.

There's a patrol boat patrolling this area 24/7. It's the kind of boat that fish and game uses. On my way back into the harbor, I saw a boater tried to fish the area and within not a minute the boater was chased out of there by the patrol boat in this area.

How about pedal powered kayaks?
@playdirty714
18 күн бұрын
The sign says no hand powered watercraft. Foot pedals are considered "hand" powered but honestly if you do get caught just say that you read the sign and it says no "hand powered" but didn't say anything about leg or feet powered. They'll just tell you to get back inside the harbor.

Yes there’s a boat launch area in Huntington Harbor at the end of Edinger street. Cost was $10 when we used to launch out boats 5 years ago. Not sure if price went up. You can start out by fishing the jetty on either side as you exit the HB Harbor.

May I know how long your motor battery last? How many miles you can go and do you have spare battery?
@playdirty714
19 күн бұрын
I usually bring 2 lithium batteries with me on kayak trips that I know I will be running around alot. For this trip, I brought 2 (50 amp hours AH) batteries. For a healthy 50AH battery fully charged, I can usually run at the speed of 4 miles per hour non-stop for 2 hours straight. When I'm trolling lures, I usually run between 1.5 miles per hour to 2.5 mph. At this speed, my battery will last around 5 hours. I have never kept track of exactly how many miles I travel because when I use the app to track, it also counts the distance when my motor is stopped and drifting so it's never accurate. I can safely tell you that I can travel at least 15 miles in distance with 1 fully charged battery. This also depends on the winds/gust/current depending whether you're going against or with. I have always wanted to see how far I can travel towards Catalina Island using 1 battery but the problem is by the time it's time to go back the winds will pick up and it will be choppy. There was a lot of praying involved behind the scenes in this video. My advice for you is go kayak fishing at a place where you don't have to do a lot of traveling so more time is spent on fishing instead of running around. In this video, I spent 2 hours of fishing and the rest of the time was traveling while trolling. 1 hour was at the break wall and 1 hour was at the Izors.

Do you need to register your Kayak since it's motorized?
@playdirty714
18 күн бұрын
Yes, when you go to the DMV just write your own bill of sale and make it look like the owner wrote it. Put down the amount you paid for it in the bill of sale. For me I put down $100. They also asked me how much was the motor so that was also included in the amount calculated for registration. I only paid $36 for 2 years of registration.

maaan.. thats a little too snugg for me.... You could get flipped too easily. I don't think I could go out fishing on a yak.. I did consider tho. Thanks for Sharing..
@playdirty714
20 күн бұрын
If you watch towards the end where the waves were butt ramming me, I thought I was going to flip. I lost rudder control of the yak and couldn't turn for a couple minutes. I was spunned out and the water came on board like I was on a piece of floating wood. I don't like going yak fishing out of HB because the risk is too high vs reward.
