Hi @kristinefischer2289. What are the spec (length, power, action) of that Legend Tournament Rod? I'm looking at purchasing a first Musky rod for kayak fishing and was seeking at the LEGEND TOURNAMENT MUSKY. I'm just not sure which power to go with for a first rod. I'm thinking Heavy will allow for most of the lure for Musky. Thanks for your advices

Hey Kristine, what size net is that ranger? I see there are various choices on the website. I have the drifter xl net and I almost exclusively fish musky solo. I am on a small pond prowler, similar to a kayak. Definitely wish I had a lighter net that is more easily handled. Love all the musky content!

What type of rod would you reccomend for throwing phantom glides and the .22 short you love to use? I was thinking the St croix 7'6 MH fast but the line rating says 65lb max? Not sure if that will be heavy enough? Thanks Kristine!

Great informative content! We use anchors quite often in the kayaks whilenout chasing Musky. Once you get that follow , sometimes you need to drop anchor and stick around to keep casting that fish. I have found that running a length of bunjie cord from my anchorline to my float helps keep the kayak from any abrupt movements when the anchor pulls/grabs ! Good luck & tight lines !

Yes Sam! I used to have an anchor I loved, with extra cord and a float that I used on and ultimately donated to the new river. I used a cylinder type anchor that didn’t hang up as easily. I’ll get another for my next trip to these parts for sure!

Great video. This June I'll be chasing my first musky from a kayak as part of an Operation Outdoors event. At this point it would be my first musky ever, though I do have an outing on a boat planned for later this month. Thank you for the good info.

Get your spouse hooked on muskie fishing and you'll never need to explain why you spend 16 hours a day 7 days a week chasing these fish. I was lucky in that I was able to do that.

Thank you! I’ve heard several jaw spreader debates.. to be honest, I’ve rarely had to use them, most often I use my hands 😳 what are your thoughts on jaw spreaders ?
@flended
5 жыл бұрын
Personally I don't use or approve of them. Anglers should be confident in proper handling of pike/musky and I guess catching more of them will increase confidence and reduce spreader use. Definitely agree with effective use of the net and limiting time out of water. Well done on the discussion!

Really good tips Kristine thank you. I dont fish for muskie, but i can definitely apply some of them for bass fishing. Like minimizing the tine the fish is out of the water. I also bought a really big net not only for the bass, but in my primary pond there are carp up to 80 lbs so just in case i hook up with one, it will come in really handy.
