Hello. Was this footage mainly of the south end of the lake? I used to kayak and camp on the lake 40 years ago. It hadn’t been logged when the dam was constructed so lots of stumps where trees have broken off. The Corrections Service had, and may still have, a minimum security facility between Alouette Lake and Stave Lake and they used to corral floating wood and cut it up for firewood for local campsites.

Thanks for sharing your memories of the lake! Yes, most of the footage was from the south end, particularly near the Kearsley campground area. The stumps and remnants of trees are still quite visible-it’s fascinating to think about how the landscape has changed over the years. I didn’t know about the Corrections Service facility or their role in managing the floating wood; that’s an interesting piece of history! It must have been quite an experience to kayak and camp there 40 years ago when it was less developed.
