Calmest conditions of the summer kayaking with Richard McConnell along the beautiful cliffs and caves of the white rocks on the Causeway Coast and Northern Ireland. Stunning arches with skylights reminiscent of the Algarve in the sunshine, and no one else anywhere around, except for a small number of pleasure boats. We went thru the legs of Elephant rocks with a few bigger waves coming at us once we round the corner. It was very cool to go into the cave underneath Dunluce castle were in years gone by the legend is that whiskey used to be brought from Scotland and secreted through the cave and up to the castle via the opening at the land side. We then went on round by the cliffs, where they recently had the red bull wild water diving championships, and we stared up at the little pedestals where these brave souls jumped from. Skipping a dive ourselves we headed on round past lowering cliffs towards the entrance of Portballintrae Bay and arrived at the busy harbour, full of children, families kayaks and paddle boards. All having the best summer sunshine so far. Not a long trip (circa 4 miles) but facinating to explore all the caves and arches.
