Yes that is possible but it is very unlikely. I've lived in Florida my entire life and I've seen ton's of alligators up close and even caught two 3-4 footers bare handed when I was a around 13-15 years old. What you just mentioned would be much more of a concern if you were dealing with crocodiles as they are much more dangerous and aggressive than alligators are. Alligators can still kill and/or cause massive amounts of damage it's just that they are much more docile compared to crocodiles and they often will not attack someone in a canoe or kayak unless there are extraordinary circumstances such as the kayak getting too close to the baby alligators of a massive, angry mama. Aside from those types of situation they're usually more interested in getting away from humans as fast as they can, rather than attacking them,
@leawinter1992

Man I spend all day everyday defending alligators on videos like this. People think they're a much bigger problem than they actually are. I mean I think we went 7 years without a fatal attack and the one that happened was wrong place wrong time wrong animal. You do this with a Nile or saltwater crocodile, you're probably not going to come back. But with gators, really not that big a deal. But I'm not going to lie, I've caught Gators with a trapper before who's a buddy of mine and he let me come help him. I probably would not have gotten that close in the water. I mean I don't think I've seen any legitimate case of an alligator grabbing someone out of a kayak or canoe like the crocodiles do but that is a big big big big ass animal. And I like to think I have some pretty big balls myself. I've worked with anacondas I've worked with reticulated pythons I've as I said caught Gators before but you got some balls my man. And again I'm not demonizing Gators I think that they are much much less of a danger to human life than people think. But once they start getting that big, I tend to stay back a few more feet just to be safe.

Wow, this seems nuts to me but is it considered to be fairly safe? Do gators not usually attack kayaks for whatever reason?
@kevinsteve1979
3 жыл бұрын
Usually it's safe to do so since gators don't see prey in human beings or a threat in kayaks. The videos where it shows that an alligator goes for a kayak was very much likely a female protecting her nest or hatchlings

Am I right in saying that gators, as well as large snakes, measure themselves to things they swim beside to see if they're large enough to try and eat them?
