Kazuhiko Kudo. He faces the nature of Hokkaido as a potter and produces pieces which reflect beautiful Hokkaido natures.
A material of the pottery is the miracle clay which deposited yellow sand from Siberia 200 million years ago.
His glazes are made from ashes of felled trees in his neighborhood.
“Shirakaba-white” is applied with a glaze which made from white birch ashes.
“Yellow-kohiki” and “Green-kohiki” are applied with a glaze mixture of oaks and painted maple ashes.
Pieces fired with scallop shells from the Sea of Okhotsk emit a scarlet color.
A glaze made from broken stones on the bottom of the Shokotsu river emits a gray color.
It evokes water flowing into the northern sea.
All of his pieces are sincerely represented characteristic and possibility of the climate which is read by himself.
