Love all the pictures. I have ridden here. Loved seeing the flying spoonbills. Did you get to see the swans?

Nice video Charles. I always like you explanation on how to get to sites and where you actually walked. Very helpful for people new to the area I go to this area a few times a year and dry conditions best for most people. You regularly see different types of birds of prey in the area. Generally flying above but they do nest in trees in the area For those prepared for a few hours walk you can do a loop of the area. Head left or east from the roundabout and link up with Kedron Brook People can see the tracks clearly marked on Google maps. In satellite view you will also see the various tracks that crisscross the wetlands At time of writing this it will be too wet for the crisscross tracks but the circuit will be okay It would be unusual for people to not get a variety of birds doing the Wetlands and then along Kedron Brook. Another starting point for the loop but a little more of a walk is from Nundah Cycle track 118 Hedley Avenue Nundah Their are toilets (for us oldies) and a covered area (BYO coffee for later). However i have not been their since the floods so hopefully all facilities are okay I often start at the roundabout (7.30am) for a 30 - 50 minute session and drive to Nundah Cycle track (5 minute drive) to do the Kedron Brook section A lowish tide is best for the Kedron Brook section but not a necessity I only have a 300mm Nikon lens and get some nice shots in this area. Just need the birds a little closer than you do

Great detail on how to find this place to park as its not intuitive~ half way around a roundabout what. What a wonderful preserve, you seemed to be at the right place at the right time. I've just got a similar camera setup (but am waiting on the mail for new SD cards) and your d500 tips will be my guide..
