I love watching Rotary cars on the drag strip. The are always fun to watch and rip head phone users when they show up. Hell many pop wheelies more than the big blocks to.

After 30yrs of Rotary ownership , had a shop I found long term storage to lay the engine plugs down , linked oil lines and plug the dizzy hole and seal . Then I remove manifolds and fill with diesel in the inlet until waist ports are full . Then plug inlet and exhaust with a thick plywood gasket blank so it's sealed. I have started engines that have been stored this way for over 20yrs. All parts from diss assembled I use a heat sealer and buy a tube of 100 micron plus's live all parts in oil then heat seal into a bag . This lasts approx 10-15 yrs. As for rust use phosphoric metal cleaner = like new

Loving the content, keep up the good work! It's so awesome that he, not only shows us how these engines/rotary technology works, but also teaches us how to make them live on. We need more people like him. Passion that is wisely given, allows it live on.

Thanks for all of your amazing content! Apologies for the super long comment below, but I figured you deserve the kudos for being the only person on KZitem that actually knows what they're talking about when it comes to rotary engine knowledge!🙏 We have a fully built super street ported(just going a lil more than the🍍 pattern)88' GTU and a mint 85' FB red on grey for both. Nice to see someone who's actually popular and not faking it!

That FB is going to be absolutely terrifying! Remember to either run it with a full tank at all times or with less than half a tank. They love to do the Porsche 911 Widowmaker flip(same wheelbase as the FC but that solid diff is a killer!) especially with an open diff. Everyone looking for tips to keep their rotary healthy, please please premix, even if you leave the OIP on. It eliminates so many problems that Mazda would have done it from the factory if not for the horrendous emissions compliance. Not that I know it all, I just hope there's a few people in here that aren't KZitem keyboard comment warriors. I'm only sharing some real world knowledge.

Hi man great info! the extra I did for parts stored is hose them wd40 and then put them in big ziploc bags. that way the oil doesn't evaporate and it keeps moisture out.

We mix 100:1 and have about 15,000 on a completely built ported with viton seals, high carbon Mazda apex seals, and driven hard AF 13B S4 GTU. Even if you have the factory oil injection pump just do yourself a big favor and pre-mix anyways. Doing that will basically make the RX8 engine 100k mi motor. At that amount of dilution you're getting all the benefits and only the tiniest bit of smoke if it's sat for a few days. We didn't winterize the GTU and it's set outside for two winters. All I did was stick some ATF on each one of the apex seals and manually spend the motor around after letting it sit overnight. Being cold it started up better than it ever has before. My dad and I were looking at each other thinking surely something is going to blow up in the next 30 seconds on that cold start! I can thoroughly endorse the pre-mixing at this point. I've had friends with RX-8 and now 2 RX-7s myself that I've had no problems as well as everyone who decided not to listen to my advice blowing their engines up. If you think about it for half a second burning crankcase oil is probably the most horrendous thing you could do to a rotary engine. And I hate to break it to all the environmentalists but a test slept produces more environmentally impactful waste than driving a normal car for 100,000 miles 😂 Brap brap. At least I don't have to worry about mine catching on fire if I do a couple hard launches! I'll be glad to share the secret to making the six ports function once you install a header. It's so simple and uses one of the factory accessory's to function.

You're the only person on KZitem that hasn't failed 3+ times at a rotary video (Donut) and isn't a fibber like Robert Dahmer. "I'm the only person in the world that could have recognized that four rotor in pieces"-rob. Yeah other than me my dad my brother Rad potential and about 3 dozen Hispanic and South American tuner\builder's along with the kiwis! They are absolutely impeccable because PPRE or one of the big four rotor manufacturers, was given the actual 26B blueprints as far as I can remember? That's hilarious you think people besides you and me and a couple 10 people in the US have more than one engine! The best way to keep them is to disassemble them fully, bead blast the housings, Alodyne them, coat The irons with some sort of gun metal preserving oil, and then make custom wooden boxes to hold the coated eccentric shaft's. You'll have to replace all the accessories if you store it for more than a year anyway most likely! Especially the power steering stuff on the second gen. It's notorious for clogging up with the speed sensitive part. Or you could do it big boy style like with aviation engines and actually "🥒"the engine. This works pretty good if you don't have access to all the above. I see why the Three musketeers were done with top gear. They've had quite the lineup of d-bags ever since Jeremy James and Hammond left 🤷🏼♂️ I'm utterly shocked that they gave Rob a spot. He's very similar to the Patey twins that build airplanes like "Draco". Proving the fact that no matter how much money you have you can't buy skill or fight mother nature. Dealing with aviation customers and working on engines for them is very much like working on cars. Everyone that has a Beachcraft Bonanza or a Mooney is 98% of the time a more money than brains situation. Sorry for the long comment, I'm autistically retarded when it comes to engine building of all types. I've been watching your stuff for a while and you are the only person who's passed the test on KZitem of actually knowing your rotary engine knowledge and not just making stuff up when you don't know. It's very refreshing!

Im in the process of importing an fd3s rx7 from japan. We're just looking for an opening on a vessel for transport. Your videos have so far been very useful on giving me an understanding to this engine. How about you make a video on what should be the very first reliability mods one should make to their rx7s? I hear some people say to change the stock ecu cause theyre crap, i hear others say to leave the ecu alone. I also hear some say to upgrade to a new radiator. However, my rx7 has dual oil coolers, so i dont know if it would be necessary in my case. People also say to linerize the temp guage, or to just upgrade to a multidisplay cluster. Would love a closer insight in a future video. Thanks!
