Why would you spend so much money on cables and front end and then place the LS50s on a cabinet that WILL resonate and destroy the sound quality. The LS50s are finicky, but when you get it right they can play up to a $20,000+ front end. The LS50s have an inert cabinet, but they will resonate anything they touch, thus they need to be decoupled. The biggest improvement I found with the LS50s was placing them on solid metal (sand filled) stands. The sweeter DAC the better they sound. The LS50s need a very competent amp to shine their best. When I hooked them to my JC1 mono blocks I was blown away by how tight they stayed at 150watts, where with lesser amps (even a high current 150 watt Parasound amp) they would breakup and get muddy at half the power. There are a lot of tweaks to make the LS50s sound as they should, but proper stands are a huge improvement and should be the starting point. When I placed my LS50s on tower speakers I could feel the bass on my feet from the floor 6 feet away and wooden floor systems are the muddiest subwoofer in the world. A big boxy cabinet like that has to be much worse resonance than decent tower speaker boxes and they suck as stands. Some people care more about everything looking pretty (form over function) and I totally get that and I try to find a balance of the two, but the LS50s are too finicky to focus on form. If you focus on function the LS50s will sound amazing, rather than just looking good. Do we look at sound quality, or do we listen to it? Also, the curved baffle needs to have nothing blocking the sound waves rolling off it (no early bounces). In other words you don't want stands with a bigger top than the base of the LS50s. In my opinion the LS50s need to breath and must be decoupled.

Thank for your comment, I don’t owen those speakers, I only reviewed them. The speaker cables are mine, that is why there is a difference in price between them. Of course stand matter and improves the sound, but i was not supplied with stands for the review.

@@AudioVideoReviews Fair enough. I just want prospective buyer to know what they are getting into and I think the LS50s are amazing speaker for the price (they have the potential to perform much higher than their price) , but they are a little finicky to get right. I think this is why people tend to love them or hate them. I wasn't very impressed at first, but now I love the LS50s. They aren't my favorite speaker, but they are right up near the top.

@@gordthor5351 I had my meta's on KEF performance S2 stands filled with atacama Atabites , the stands were not practical in room due to having young children etc.. The meta's are now on a solid oak cabinet stuck down with blutack and in my opinion the difference isn't that noticeable, obviously stands are better but im still extremely happy with my current setup and the sound they produce.

I only had experience with the Devialet phantom speakers. Can’t comment about their amplifiers. The Naim Uniti Nova is my own personal amp for a year mow. I use it to drive much more expensive speakers, YG Acoustics Carmel 2. The Nova does an amazing job, the sound is refined, dynamic, smooth and emotional. In it’s price category I believe that the Nova is one of the best amps out there. It is also a delight to use and control using the Naim app.

How you satisfied with speakers? bass, mid, trable?
@AudioVideoReviews
3 жыл бұрын
I find the LS50 incredibly transparent and detailed. The bass is surprisingly deep but more than that it is fast, well balanced and has an excellent separation of layers. The mid is very clear. The overall sound is revealing and accurate. What this speaker is not, is it does not have a soft and pleasant nature, it will not sugar coat the recording or the equipment quality.
