RS and RK is just the type of seal, they have different lips. You can pop the seal out if you want, they are greased for the lifespan of the bearing so you can leave the seal on to protect for dirt. I’d only remove the seal if the bearing was lubricated by oil (which is almost never for wheel bearing, don’t if anyone has seen oil lubricated wheel bearing)

You can put the bearing in the freezer overnight, might be enough to drop it in place. It’s rather small though so I don’t know if that would shrink it enough. Worth the try.

The bushing looked so loose. As for the bearings , yes you can keep the seal. Some bearings have no seal so you can put grease inside and some have already some lubricant inside. You cannot over tighten bearings. The bearings you have are radial load bearings and load is on the sides of the bearings all the time.

Great videos. Iv got a 1995 I’m starting to work on. Good job on the bearings. The only other thing I normally do is put them in the freezer for a few hours. This will shrink them just a little. And help them go in. Keen to seen some more video of your carry. And maybe even put up some videos of my own.

you may just be the inspiration to me buying one of these finally. Love the updates keep them coming. Please do me a little favor though, replace the keeper chains on the side and rear tailgates with new chain or painted ones, will make it look so much nicer for just a few bucks.

I’m going to clean the surface rust and bedline it. I also just bought some wire loom to cover the chains to keep them quiet and make them look better.

if you need to seat a new bearing freeze them overnight and they will be much easier to put in. Also its better to have both sides sealed up. the less dirt and debris that hit that grease in the bearing the better. Those new bearings will last 10x longer because they are sealed

You can make your custom bearing tool to put back bearings if you do not have a hydraulic jack press. Get 2 steel plates. Drill hole on both plates on the center. Put threaded rod inside two plates. Put washers and nuts and those will sandwhich your parts and you just tighten the nus to keep pressing the plates.

Came here wondering if you could do a 5 lug swap. Replacing the wheel hub would give you a new bearing and more options for wheels.
@DentedFenderGarage

1. Anything is possible. 2. I have no lack of wheel options with 4x100, same as Honda, some BMW, Mazda, etc. 3. Finding matching axles and hubs would be crazy hard.

What website did you use to get the clips along with the led and the adapter? Also what oil filter do you use for this truck
@DentedFenderGarage
8 ай бұрын
The LED reverse polarity adapters came from eBay. I can’t remember what website I got the clips from, there are lots of websites and they are on eBay, but they aren’t cheap. I think I got them from a Canadian Minitruck website. I use a Puralator L14476 oil filter that is on the shelf at Tractor Supply for around $4.

One of the things I noticed with my US-spec Samurai was the fact that the headlights were negatively-switched. This means a relay kit needed to be installed to make LED headlights work, Do you know if this is a common problem with Kei cars? Also, I would like to import a Suzuki Mighty Boy. Because it has a small pickup bed, do you think it will be subject to the 25% truck tax?
@DentedFenderGarage
Жыл бұрын
I really think the negative switched headlights changes from manufacturer to manufacturer and year to year. I had my Samurai from 1996 until around 2008, back then people weren’t doing LED headlights so I never realized I had reverse wired lamps. As for the Mighty Boy, they’ll probably still call it a pickup and tax you, but the wording on the import papers and original title are what determines that. When it comes down to it, you can’t argue with customs. The second problem with the Mighty Boy is that they are going to be super rare and hard to find.
